Guest guest
Thank you Robyn, I'll be very interested in hearing his answer -- might help to bring the allergy and nutritional info for him to read, too. Guest guest
Already printed it out. I'm interested to hear what he has to say as well. Thanks! Guest guest
Robyn, Oh, well... it was exciting to think for a day that we might be able to add something new. Thank you so much for asking Dr. G. and sharing the answer. Caroline G. From: Robyn <rngcoggs@...> Reply-< > Date: Sun, 08 Mar 2009 22:14:40 +0000 < > Subject: Re: Hemp milk? For all those interested, hemp milk was a no go. Dr. G said it's probably the type of thing to fire up the immune system. Guest guest
Is there a good reference book on the diet to help us when dealing with the diet and what our kiddos can/cannot eat? Something to make life just a bit easier? Thanks, C > > > From: Caroline Glover <sfglover@...> > > Subject: Re: Re: Hemp milk? > > > > Date: Monday, March 9, 2009, 5:21 AM > > Robyn, > > > > Oh, well... it was exciting to think for a day that we > > might be able to add > > something new. Guest guest
There are some dos/don'ts on the website (www.neuroimmunedr.com), but no books. It seems to me that the basic rules are the following (please feel free to jump in and correct me): No dairy, no whole grains, avoid organic because it usually has whole grains (I do buy organic fruits and veggies when I available), avoid tropical fruits, berries, including cherries, no nuts except highly processed peanut butter, such as JIF. You can have: 2 servings of fruits per day (no tropical) Veggies Meats Processed white bread We stay away from anything exotic or unusual, which is why I was pretty sure the hemp milk was going to be a no-no. For breakfast, Dr. G usually recommends rice krispies cereal (just make sure it isn't brown rice) with milk substitute, such as Mocha Mix, soy, or some are using potato milk, and some sort of breakfast meat--we use turkey sausage and bacon. Guest guest
Robyn, That's basically what I thought and do...sometimes I just feel that I'm serving my son the same things over and over with very little variety. He's a great eater of what I give him. Maybe it is just me... Thanks. Guest guest
Just want to comment that while the " dos and don'ts " on Dr. G's website is very helpful, it is a bit outdated and there are some items listed there as being " o.k. " that he no longer permits. Rice Dream, for example, and Tofurella cheese substitute (which has casein -- a definite NO-NO). The only cheese substitutes that are permitted are Soymage and the Tofutti brand cheese substitutes. Donna > > > There are some dos/don'ts on the website (www.neuroimmunedr.com), but no books. Guest guest
About the only variety you can bring to the diet is with the vegetables. That's my problem. My youngest is not a fan, but we're working on it. Luckily, my three don't seem to mind the restrictions all that much.
