Guest guest
My oldest son () reacted to the HepB. The the night we brought him home from the hospital (2 days old) he spiked a fever and wouldn't nurse and cried all night. The next morning we brought him in to the doctor's office. They tried to get a urine sample, but could only get a drop he was so dehydrated. They also did a spinal tap on him and re-admitted him to the hospital. It'd been less than 24 hours since we went home. He spent another 3-4 days (it's a blur to me) int he hospital with IVs. The pediatrician had to fill-out a vaccine reaction report for the " unknown viral infection " because of the time-line from when the HepB was given but he said he didn't think that was the reason. Yeah, whatever. My son never reacted to the other vaccines so obviously. With my two younger kids we've not given the HepB (hospital/doctor staff is fine with that once they know the oldest reacted to it.) We are doing the slower/alertative vaccine schedule Dr. Goldberg recommends with them and they are doing fine. - in Mobile, AL ______________________________________ " You must write for children in the same way as you do for adults, only better. Reading this about that encephalomyelitis made me wonder about other people in the group...did anyone else have their children have severe reactions to vaccinations? Day 1 after the Hep B she had hives all over her body. Then my daughter had a fever of 104+ about 8 hours after each round of vaccinations. She would just lay in my arms lifelessly. Finally we stopped them at 6 months because it scared me too much! I figured we could restart them when she was older. Guest guest
My oldest reacted to the MMR - 2 wks later he had no more eye contact (for a while) and stopped responding to his name. He already had symptoms before that, but it was then that I first said Oh my god what haave I done? I had read of the MMR controversy at the appt for his shot. Two weeks is the point when cellular immunity kicks in. Both boys developed mucousy diahrea 2 wks after each DTaP. I didn't make the connection until the 5th time (between 2 kids). I developed severe IBS after a tetnus shot. My husband had his first onset of ulcerative colitis a couple weeks after a tetanus booster, and my MIL was in the hospital a month after a tetanus booster w/her worst bout of ulcerative colitis ever. They wanted to remove her colon. I said no. I said her shot triggered it. She is in remission now, w/her colon. My second son reacted to the DTAP w/6 hrs of indescribable screaming, and after I realized he had also been having seizures - but I couldn't imagine putting him in the car to take him to the ER, and the pediatrician said sometimes this happens, we'll just do the DT next time. With the next DT, he screamed 8 hrs even worse, clearly in horrible pain. I swore off the rest for a while, begged for waiver. Finally, in 'good faith' I got him the polio thinking it was a mild one, and he started losing gross motor skills almost immediately, going from a sturdy gait to tipping over to the left and falling down. No more vaccines ever for him, even when Dr G said it would now be ok for the MMR. I just couldn't. Big brother was ASD, had all of his scheduled vaccines except the 5 yr MMR booster, and has mostly recovered on the protocol, is much brighter right now than little brother. #2 typically developed until a year off the protocol, and then developed CFIDS and 5 yr old onset of asperger like symptoms. He didn't have all of the vaccines, started the protocol much sooner than his brother (at 18 months, before he could regress), didn't have any asd symptoms until age 5 after being off meds a year. Dr G had always said he was lucky - his labs were worse than his big brother's. His brother responded best to the protocol w/HHV6 coming out of hiding, but 's never did, and he got sick again. He didn't get nearly as many vaccines, but he is a lot sicker. He looks it too. Garrrett looks healthy w/shiny hair and bright eyes, while has eye circles, is pale, and his hair is dry and dull. It is a stark comparison right now. Fortunately, I've seen them both get well before, so I'm not completely losing my mind as badly this time around. Oh - most importantly... Garrett got better after his MMR, and I forgot about it for a while. Then he got the flu, and his reaction to it was what completely pushed him over the edge and that was when I finally understood that he had autism. That virus was a lot worse on him than the MMR vaccine was, although being only months apart couldn't have helped either. I wonder if I had gottten the flu shot for him that year, if he would kept getting better like he had been (until the next illness came along of course). ________________________________ From: C. - Wonderwegian <carriecox@...> Sent: Wednesday, February 25, 2009 3:07:14 PM Subject: Re: Anyone else have vaccine reactions too? Guest guest
, Wow, this your story is interesting to me...and I can relate because I, too, am scared to vaccinate my kids. I have had 2 more and they are unvaccinated and healthy, but they do suffer from allergies. (my baby girl has environmental allergies and my 2 year old has extreme allergies to mosquito bites) Dr. told me we could vaccinate but I am just so afraid. How could I live with myself if something happened? I have a question, why do you think your younger one who received less vaccinations is sicker? He sounds like my daughter has the dark under eye circles, pale skin and dry hair, especially since she started the Diflucan. - --- <thecolemans4@...> wrote: > My oldest reacted to the MMR - 2 wks later he had no > more eye contact (for a while) and stopped > responding to his name. Guest guest
I think my son's 'tipping point' was not with the MMR (which he was given while SICK from introduction to cow's milk), but a flu vaccine he got 5-6 months later. Guest guest
I would be careful with those flu shots. They still have a lot of mercury in them and they don't even know what strain of flu will hit. It's a guessing game. Everyone I know (adults) that got the flu shot actually got the flu. Even doctors admit that the pharms missed the mark on this flu shot. Less is more when it comes to our kids and putting things in their body. That is what I learned the second time around. I did not vaccinate my second child...I just couldn't bring myself to do it. He is doing great, very verbal, but I think he may have some allergies. At least I cannot blame vaccines. No matter what happens with him down the line, I am relieved to be able to take that off the check list as possible culprits. It made me realize though, that our kids may be fighting off all the toxins we have polluting our air and water, viruses, etc. and that alone is a tough battle...then add shots to the mix on top of that and it could be complete overload. We vaccinate too early to even know what our little babies may organically be fighting off. I still feel regret over getting my older son some of the shots that I knew were a crock of sh*t from the beginning. Like Hep B. Most children do not need that shot and I knew it but thought, well, it does come with the HIB, might as well. After reading your entries, the sadness is still there. Not only for my son, although he is doing fabulous, but for all parents like us who have to go through all of this agonizing to save our precious babies. I am thankful that I held back on many of his shots; he never received the MMR, chickenpox...I think we're missing like 10 and no boosters. I never vaccinated after 18 months. I told the doctor until Ian starts talking, I'm not putting another thing in his body. He agreed. And we were done. I now believe, you can always put stuff in their bodies, add shots down the road, but you can never take stuff out. And that is how I live my life. And if someone tries to scare me with fear, I definitely walk away. The Lord did not give me the spirit of fear and I'm not subscribing to that line of thinking. Okay, enough from me. Thanks for sharing all your stories. It is really helpful. Guest guest
All three of my daughters had horrible reactions to the vaccines which changed their life, abnormal brain spect scans Seizures non verbal just to name a few. We treated with Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy and other vitamins, they are now 19, 21, 22 and they have recovered. Thank God Anyone else have vaccine reactions too? Reading this about that encephalomyelitis made me wonder about other people in the group...did anyone else have their children have severe reactions to vaccinations? Day 1 after the Hep B she had hives all over her body. Then my daughter had a fever of 104+ about 8 hours after each round of vaccinations. She would just lay in my arms lifelessly. Finally we stopped them at 6 months because it scared me too much! I figured we could restart them when she was older. Just curious. - --- <jrodrig6605@ hotmail.com> wrote: > This sounds exactly of what our children have and we > are working so > hard to treat. > > http://en.wikipedia .org/wiki/ Acute_disseminat ed_encephalomyel itis > > Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is an > immune mediated > disease of the brain.[1][2] [3] It usually occurs > following a viral > infection but may appear following vaccination, > bacterial or parasitic > infection, or even appear spontaneously. > > Thanks, > JR > > May the Lord bless you and keep you! Guest guest
Hey , I don't really know why he's sicker. The fact that he is, but didn't get all the vacs his brother did is one of the things that helps me not feel guilty for getting his older brother's. Of course, if his brother had reacted that badly, he wouldn't have gotten them. I didn't see him get worse and worse from them the way I did w/. I did, however, have a subtle discomfort after them that I could never put a finger on. I don't believe they're a cause, just a trigger. Anyway, Dr G said at our first appointment that he was surprised was doing as well as he was, because his labs showed his immune system was a lot worse off than his brother's was. I believed the reason he was able to develop typically those first few years (despite the nighttime waking/screaming every 20 minutes to an hr all night every night) was because by the time he was 9 months old, I had him off dairy, and at 15 months we had the diflucan experience that helped him begin sleeping, and managed to keep him on it until 18 months old when we could get him and his brother to Dr G. But his NKs were much worse, he had chronic anemia that his brother didn't have.... I just don't know why he is sicker. I felt bad during that pregnancy, and developed a goiter the next year, so I probably had some immune stuff going on and some thyroid problems develop during pregnancy, and the stress of the first baby ... Despite how 'poorly' he's doing right this minute, I think he's very lucky, and the regression I've witnessed over the last 2 years has cemented my belief that Dr Goldberg saved my children (and me too). As far as vaccinating your other children.... Dr G's alternating method is supposed to be the solution for them. One a month, viral one month, bacterial the other month, only when well, no rashes, not recently off antibiotics, etc. Of course I think having been dairy-free during pregnancy is a big part of that 'promise' too, so if you weren't, you could consider delaying them even further apart. You may see subtle reactions/regressions from them intitially and get scared to death, but usually it would be no different than what you see if they just had a sinus infection or a bad cold or something. But I won't w/my son right now because he does not appear well, and I think if Dr G took one look at him right now, he would say not to give shots right then either. He wants them looking bright and healthy, or they wait. So. That's your basis ... if you don't see bright and healthy, don't do it. If they look great, that's a good time. That's my personal opinion and understanding. can explain it from her experience a lot better, and I think she has recently under the pregnancy topic. If there is poor cellular immunity " going on " when you get a live-virus vaccine or a viral infection (or have an ongoing smoldering viral infection), I think that is the precurser to having vaccine reactions - not the vaccines causing the problem itself. I think it's pre-existing, but I absolutely believe irresponsibly vaccinating drastically increases the odds. I am not comfortable doing it at all with my son. Maybe when his NKs get up. Maybe never. Unless measles epidemics hit my state or surrounding areas ... then we're there and we're getting it. You brought up diflucan. It keeps popping up in my mind too. Are you on a totally dye-free version, or do you get the very pale pink version like I do? I think even the palest dye was a mild trigger for my boys, and I'm thinking I may have to bite the bullett and pay for some compounding to get rid of that dye before I make any other diet changes. I think diflucan is a miracle drug - it has changed our lives. But that dye can be sneaky. I just don't know if it has enough impact to warrant the cost. (If it sounds bad to worry about that, it's more important to me to the have protocol for the duration and I will make financial choices with that long term goal in mind.) Bill Klimas also brought up several times recently just how far not having the clean diet can set us back and slow the progress, so I'm going to have to face up and address that better too. Sorry so long. ________________________________ From: Hankinson <jlhank80@...> Sent: Wednesday, February 25, 2009 9:47:10 PM Subject: Re: Anyone else have vaccine reactions too? , Wow, this your story is interesting to me...and I can relate because I, too, am scared to vaccinate my kids. - --- <thecolemans4> wrote: > My oldest reacted to the MMR - 2 wks later he had no > more eye contact (for a while) and stopped > responding to his name. Guest guest
My son didn't have obvious reactions to any of the vaccines, but he would lose a skill or gain a strange behavior or sensory issue right after each vaccination. For example, he stopped holding his bottle at six months, right after a vax. He started bouncing constantly after a three-month vaccination. Another time he stopped responding to his name. Most skills would came back eventually, and since he is an only child and I had no other children to compare him to, I dismissed it all as just being quirky! It wasn't until we started Mommy and Me when he was 18 months old that I noticed how behind he was, and then it took nearly another year to get someone to pay attention to my concerns. Guest guest
Hello, My name is Gabby, and I am a mother of two AUTISTIC boys: (5 years old) & (3.5 years old)... My earliest memories daydreaming about just being a wife and mother ... I met my soulmate and it was only a matter of time before the rest of my dreams were realized. I was sooooo excited and filled with Joy, Hopes, and dreams for my son to be... was born on October of 2003... a perfect little boy!!! He flipped over from back to front while he was being weighed for the first time, a strong child indeed...he fed well and slept all night long!!! But this was soon to end... before we left the hospital they took him to the nursery to get a shot (Hep so that he would be " safe " ... When they brought him back all had changed, and this calm and serene child, would not stop crying. He became horse...and unable to cry like a normal child!!! He did not eat well, stopped sleeping through the night, and day. He was also jaundice...They would tell me over and over that he was OK, that he was a " colicky child " ... What ever that means! As he received more vaccines his condition deteriorated more and more, That strong child became weak, low muscle tone, eye contact started to fade away, and language stopped. It all became more intense after his flu shot at 12months. But the pediatrician kept reassuring me that I was being paranoid, that the vaccines had nothing to do with all his problems... January 9th 2006, was diagnosed as SEVERELY AUTISTIC. A week prior to this I was diagnosed with CANCER ( lymphoma type . Our second child was only 5 months old!!! Breastfeeding had to be stopped. In preparation for upcoming Chemo – I had to have a procedure that would insert a Life Port in my chest, to be able to receive the chemo. Later came the radiation... Thank God for family – our support system! Once became 18 months, he received the same diagnosis " AUTISM " ... our world was shattered and all our hopes and dreams for our children were tossed away as we were told that there was nothing that could be done, but wait and expect the worse the older they got!!! But, giving up on our boys was not an option for us, I fought and survived CANCER so that we could beat AUTISM too!!!  Hepatitis B Shot/High Bilirubin/ ASD CONNECTION http://www.labtests%20online.org/%20understanding/%20analytes/%20bilirubin/%20te\ st.html Also known as: Total bilirubin, TBIL, Neonatal bilirubin, Direct bilirubin (conjugated bilirubin), Indirect bilirubin (unconjugated bilirubin) Formal name: Bilirubin Related tests: Liver panel, Gamma-glutamyl transferase, Alkaline phosphatase, Aspartate aminotransferase, Alanine aminotransferase, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C The Test How is it used? When is it ordered? What does the test result mean?Is there anything else I should know? How is it used? When bilirubin levels are high, a condition called jaundice occurs, and further testing is needed to determine the cause. Too much bilirubin may mean that too much is being produced (usually due to increased hemolysis) or that the liver is incapable of adequately removing bilirubin in a timely manner due to blockage of bile ducts, liver diseases such as cirrhosis, acute hepatitis, or inherited problems with bilirubin processing. It is not uncommon to see high bilirubin levels in newborns, typically 1 to 3 days old. This is sometimes called physiologic jaundice of the newborn. Within the first 24 hours of life, up to 50% of full-term newborns, and an even greater percentage of pre-term babies, may have a high bilirubin level.. After birth, newborns begin breaking down the excess red blood cells (RBCs) they are born with and, since the newborn’s liver is not fully mature, it is unable to process the extra bilirubin, causing the infant's bilirubin levels to rise in the blood and other body tissues. This situation usually resolves itself within a few days. In other instances, newborns’ red blood cells may be being destroyed because of blood incompatibilities between the baby and her mother, called hemolytic disease of the newborn. In adults or older children, bilirubin is measured to diagnose and/or monitor liver diseases, such as cirrhosis, hepatitis, or gallstones. Patients with sickle cell disease or other causes of hemolytic anemia may have episodes where excessive RBC destruction takes place, increasing bilirubin levels. When is it ordered? A doctor usually orders a bilirubin test in conjunction with other laboratory tests (alkaline phosphatase, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase) for a patient who shows signs of abnormal liver function. A bilirubin level may be ordered when a patient: shows evidence of jaundice has a history of drinking excessive amounts of alcohol has suspected drug toxicity has been exposed to hepatitis viruses Other symptoms that may be present include:dark, amber-colored urine nausea/vomiting abdominal pain and/or swelling fatigue and general malaise that often accompany chronic liver disease Determining a bilirubin level in newborns with jaundice is considered standard medical care. What does the test result mean?NOTE: A standard reference range is not available for this test. Because reference values are dependent on many factors, including patient age, gender, sample population, and test method, numeric test results have different meanings in different labs. Your lab report should include the specific reference range for your test. Lab Tests Online strongly recommends that you discuss your test results with your doctor. For more information on reference ranges, please read Reference Ranges and What They Mean. Newborns: Excessive bilirubin damages developing brain cells in infants (kernicterus) and may cause mental retardation, learning and developmental disabilities, hearing loss, or eye movement problems. It is important that bilirubin in newborns does not get too high. When the level of bilirubin is above a critical threshold, special treatments are initiated to lower it. An excessive bilirubin level may result from the accelerated breakdown of red blood cells due to a blood type incompatibility between the mother and her newborn (e.g., the mother is Rh-negative and has antibody to Rh-positive blood - the father is Rh-positive, and the fetus inherits this trait from him; the mother’s antibody crosses the placenta and causes the fetal Rh-positive red blood cells to hemolyze, resulting in excessively elevated bilirubin levels with jaundice, anemia, and possible kernicterus. ) Adults and children: Bilirubin levels can be used to identify liver damage/disease or to monitor the progression of jaundice. Increased total or unconjugated bilirubin may be a result of hemolytic, sickle cell or pernicious anemias or a transfusion reaction. If conjugated bilirubin is elevated, there may be some kind of blockage of the liver or bile ducts, hepatitis, trauma to the liver, cirrhosis, a drug reaction, or long-term alcohol abuse. Inherited disorders that cause abnormal bilirubin metabolism (Gilbert’s, Rotor’s, Dubin-, Crigler-Najjar syndromes) may also cause increased levels ... Low levels of bilirubin are not generally a concern and are not monitored. Is there anything else I should know? Although bilirubin may be toxic to brain development in newborns (up to the age of about 2–4 weeks), high bilirubin in older children and adults does not pose the same threat. In older children and adults, the “blood-brain barrier†is more developed and prevents bilirubin from crossing this barrier to the brain cells. Elevated bilirubin levels in children or adults, however, strongly suggest a medical condition that must be evaluated and treated. Bilirubin is not normally present in the urine. However, conjugated bilirubin is water-soluble and therefore may be excreted from the body in the urine when levels increase in the body. Its presence in the urine usually indicates blockage of liver or bile ducts, hepatitis or some other liver damage. The most common method for detecting urine bilirubin is using the dipstick test that is part of a urinalysis. Bilirubin levels tend to be slightly higher in males than females, while African Americans show lower values. Strenuous exercise may also increase bilirubin levels. Researchers find aggressive phototherapy can improve neurodevelopmental outcomes in some preemies: http://www.cnsfoundation.org/site/News2?news_iv_ctrl=-1 & page=NewsArticle & id=8235\ & autologin=true Engerix hep B vaccine may raise risk of MS in kids: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/news/fullstory_69759.html Hepatitis B Vaccine & Adverse Reactions: http://www.umm.%20edu/altmed/%20drugs/hepatitis-%20b-061000.%20htm Multiple sclerosis reported following administration of hepatitis B and other vaccines: http://us.gsk.com/products/assets/us_engerixb.pdf Disturbing facts: - Bilirubin levels tend to be slightly higher in males than females (just like ASD) - Newborns: Excessive bilirubin damages developing brain cells in infants (kernicterus) and may cause mental retardation, learning and developmental disabilities, hearing loss, or eye movement problems. It is important that bilirubin in newborns does not get too high. - Reasonst to test an infant are:If they have been exposed to hepatitis viruses (vaccine:Hep B at second day of birth in the hospiital) - shows evidence of jaundice - last but not least there is a well documented connection between Hep B vaccine and MS in children. All this symptoms and facts were present after my son received Hep B vaccine prior to leaving the hospital... One thing it does not mention is the nonstop crying (his voice went horse before we even left the hospital...) He was eating and sleeping fine prior to the shot and developed intolerance to protein after that... and just told me he was a coliky baby and dismissed any observation I had... And told me to go home and put my boy in the sun as much as posible... they never tested levels of bilirubin at all... I could tell he was in a very intence pain and kept on giving Tylenol (which depletes glutathione levels) prescribed by the Pediatrician, probably making things worse!!! I wish I knew then what I know now...And each time he received a new vaccine he kept having rashes and what not... until 1 year of age when he received MMR and a Flu shot all in one day... after that he went off the deep end and regressed more and more!!! Having very low muscle tone, difficulty with fine motor skills, Sleep depravation, difficulty digesting certain proteins, bloating, pain, and fatigue (this are all symptoms of my child having liver and brain damage). That Hep B shot was the first step we took & started our journey in to ASD world... And if you add to this the Mercury, Aluminum as well as other aditives in the shots, which have been recently discussed in the theory of vaccines causing micro-vascular stokes from Dr. Moulden... It just makes more sense ... Our children have been injured... vaccine by vaccine and all of them contribute to more and more regressions!!! MMR is just the tip of the iceberg & the straw that broke the camel's back... With concern for the safety of our children, Love, Gabby. :0) http://stemcellforautism.blogspot.com/  " I know of nobody who is purely Autistic or purely neurotypical. Guest guest
Donna, I have the same case like you and I got tired about telling pediatricians that something was wrong with my daughter. It took me almost 18 months to get a doctor to put attention. My daughter lost her skills gradually and no eye contact . I hope that pediatricians start to put attention to mothers. Guest guest
I used to turn up to each vaccination appointment with a bottle of pain relief (it helped to reduce my babies pain/distress afterwards but instead I really should have been questioning the severity of reaction) because each of my 7 children had very bad local reactions with high temperatures plus 'sleeping' for 24+ hours afterwards. Three of the boys later received diagnoses of Language Impairment (two had noticeable regressions and one has since recovered) and all exhibited other neurological signs such as sensory and motor disturbances all lived their baby and early childhoods with enlarged neck and groin glands still receiving their vaccinations, the fourth boy has ADD type symptoms but nowadays this passes almost as the norm for boys who can still achieve academically and socially. My three daughters are all neurotypical but each has poor bladder control (which has been thoroughly investigated with no abnormality detected so this likely makes it neurological in origin!) which has not improved as they get older and I mean I have carried 6 pregnancies (one set of twins) had one caesarian and four normal deliveries and I do not have their problems! My youngest son now 6 has not had his pre school boosters because I finally made the connection because although there was no Language Disorders/Learning Difficulties in our family history there certainly were autoimmune ones! I share your upset because our children's struggles may have been avoided by a more judicious approach to vaccinations. Guest guest
Gabby, You go girl!!! Don't give up until you recover both your kids. Get mad at all the garbage the " so called " experts tell you, but don't ever through in the towel especially on those days when you feel you can't continue with this horrible uphill battle. They said my kid wouldn't be okay too, but he is. is a sophomore at a California University on a half-ride merit scholarship, studies Mechanical Engineering and has a 3.8 GPA. Today drives, has friends, and does all the things the doctors told me he would never do. fits in quite nicely with all the other nerds, is president of Hillel, and has a ton of friends. (Who would have seen that one coming?) It wasn't till college that had true friends. Even in high school, he was kind of on the outside looking in. The social is the last to come. Last weekend my husband and I went to parent's weekend. What we didn't know ahead of time is that my nice Jewish boy was asked by Father Tracey to be a part of a student panel of seven on Spirituality. He owned the room, was funny and I couldn't have been more proud. During this time my husband leaned over to me and asked, " Who is that kid? And what did they do with our son? " That evening we went to a function from the fraternity he joined this year. One of the guys told me that out of all the house members, is the one he likes the best and embodies the fraternity principles more than anyone else. But the best part was when introduced me to one of the alums that he later quietly explained to me was a little socially awkward. I immediately recognized that this kid was on the spectrum. I told he needs to look out for this kid. He said he thinks this kid is a " little bit touched " our code for on the spectrum. And he said he always looks out for him. Not bad for a kid who was never suppose to be empathetic. If anyone would have told me all this would be possible when my kid was the same age as yours, I never would have believed them. You can do this with hard work. Just remember it is not just the medical. It includes the educational, behavioral and social too. It must all be taught and integrated. That's why it takes so long and is not an easy fix. Hang in there. Marcia

Guest guest
yes, why voluntarily put more thimersiol (mercury based preservative) into you or your childs body. ________________________________ From: on behalf of Dawn Dolan Sent: Wed 2/25/2009 10:49 PM Subject: Re: Anyone else have vaccine reactions too? Kristy From: groups (DOT) com [mailto:groups (DOT) com] On Behalf Of Hankinson Sent: Wednesday, February 25, 2009 7:47 PM groups (DOT) com Subject: Re: Anyone else have vaccine reactions too? , Wow, this your story is interesting to me...and I can relate because I, too, am scared to vaccinate my kids. - --- <thecolemans4 <mailto:thecolemans 4%40. com> > wrote: > My oldest reacted to the MMR - 2 wks later he had no > more eye contact (for a while) and stopped > responding to his name.
