Hi debbie,This link you posted about Essiac still has a lot of incorrect information...

Everyone is trying to convince their readers they have the " correct " recipe whereas the link I've repeatedly posted does have the true

and correct information, inclusive of an affidavit from the woman known to have helped Nurse Caisee actually make Essiac tea.. Her affidavit clearly contradicts the info in the link you've posted.

This is where the true info about Essiac tea starts... If you really want to learn about Essiac, read all of the links in this URL and

you will have all the true information that has been thoroughly researched..

http://www.healthfreedom.info/essiac_info.htm

This is the link you posted, it is loaded with incorrect information:

http://www.tldp.com/issue/183/Cats%20Claw%20and%20Essiac.htmAnd this is the incorrect information I've copied from the above link..>>>>>>>.............<<<<<<<<<<<...  . I will post the correct info below it

>>>>Essiac and Cat's Claw

Something new and promising is the prospect of using Cat's Claw with other medicinal herbs and plants. One such product has recently been introduced that combines Cat's Claw with watercress, burdock root, sheep sorrel, turkey rhubarb root and slippery elm bark. The last four herbs are what make up the original formula from Canada known as Essiac.<<<

I would not change the formula of Essiac we are using, it has a 90 year history of working and working well.. We have no idea what happens if we add or delete ingredients from the original recipe. Once you change the recipe you don't know how the new ingredients will work with the original ingredients. You will read that

Nurse Caisse's concern was that others would try to change her Essiac tea formula, and the hucksters sure did in the name of making a buck off of it.  This is yet one more try to change the recipe so the person can profit from it.. There are hundreds of false Essiac recipes out there, only one true recipe that kept many stage 4 cancer patients alive for many years past the time they were given by their doctors.

>>>> In case you haven't heard of Essiac, here's the scoop: Rene Caisse, a registered nurse living in Canada learned of the original four herb formula from a patient in a hospital she had been working in. The patient reportedly had been cured of breast cancer by using this herbal preparation which had been given to her by an Ojibway Indian. In 1922 at the age of 33, Rene left the hospital and moved to Bracebridge, Ontario, where she began administering this formula to all who came to her. Later she named the formula Essiac, which is her last name spelled backwards.<<<<

The claim above is the tea was given to Nurse Cassse by a woman who originally received it from an Ojibway Indian... This is false.  The truth about this is written below...

Again, this link below has the full truth about Essiac tea, including a signed affidavit from McPherson as to the original AND only Essiac formula AND how to properly

prepare it.

http://www.healthfreedom.info/Cancer%20Essiac.htm

So here are the plain, non-commercial facts:

 1) Essiac marketers often claim that Essiac is an Ojibwa Indian formula.  In " I Was Canada's Cancer Nurse " Rene Caisse referred only to " a very old Indian medicine man " without naming any specific tribe.  Sheila Snow and Mali Klein have researched this issue extensively from the Essiac Archives and found that " There is absolutely no evidence to support the popular assumption that he was a member of the Ojibwa tribe.  There were six different tribes living in Northern Ontario at that time, including Algonquin [Anishinabeg], Cree, Cherokee, Huron, Iroquois and Ojibwa as well as the refugees from other tribes in the United States, who were fleeing north of the border from the Indian wars. "

>>>>Unfortunately, Caisse sold the rights to the name Essiac to a company in Canada which no longer prepares the individual herbs as she did and there are many knockoff products under different names, that do not prepare the herbs as she did either. In order for the herbs to be most effective, sheep sorrel must never be boiled or its medicinal properties will be destroyed. It must be simmered for 20 minutes at no higher that 140¡. Burdock root and turkey rhubarb root must be boiled for 20 minutes and slippery elm bark needs to be boiled for 20 minutes, allowed to cool and then boiled again for another 20 minutes. This is a tedious procedure that must be followed religiously if one expects to see the kind of results experienced by nurse Caisse's patients.<<<<

The above states Nurse Caisse sold the rights of Essiac tea to a company in Canada... This is also false.. If fact she did not sell the rights. Dr. Glum purchased the formula from one of Nurse Caisse's former patients.  In McPherson's handwritten affidavit (below), you will read that Sheeps Sorrels was indeed boiled in Nurse Caisse's Essiac tea..

The only person Rene Caisse trusted to help her make Essiac tea was her best friend, McPherson.  had worked alongside Rene since the 1930s and knew the formula by heart.  According to Dr. Glum, had promised Rene never to reveal the formula to anyone.  The Essiac formula might never have made it into the public domain had it not been for Dr. Glum.  In 1985 he purchased the formula for $120,000 from one of Rene's former patients.  According to Sheila Snow and Mali Klein, Pat Judson of Deering, Michigan was that patient.  Mrs. Judson was the president of the Detroit chapter of the Foundation forAlternative Cancer Therapy, or " FACT " .  She was involved with a class action lawsuit to make Essiac available in the United States.  Pat Judson visited Rene Caisse in 1977 and 1978 to obtain Essiac tea.  Later, in 1978 Rene Caisse traveled to Detroit to receive an award from FACT.

Dr. Glum could have kept the formula secret and become very wealthy selling bottles of Essiac.  However, he unselfishly released the formula into the public domain in 1988.  At first he offered the formula on a video tape that he advertised in his book, CALLING OF AN ANGEL, but the feds unlawfully seized the tapes before he could sell very many of them.  Dr. Glum gave out the Essiac formula and recipe free of charge to anyone who mailed him a request for the Essiac formula.

And the reason Nurse Caisse kept the Essiac formula secret was she didn't trust it would be made properly and she thought it would be altered... And

was she correct, there are so many different watered down recipes on the Internet, on this group we use the original 4 herb recipe only... AND it actually costs

less than the watered down recipes with less expensive herbs..

Another reason why Rene kept the Essiac formula secret was that she didn't trust people to make it properly and she thought that it would be altered.  For example, several years after Dr. Glum published the four-herb Essiac formula, Canadian talk show host Elaine marketed an eight-herb formula, which included the four herbs that Dr. Glum published.  Her marketing campaign proclaimed that Essiac's " new name was Flor•Essence® " .  She subsequently died of cancer.  Even today a common misconception still exists that Elaine 's formula is Rene Caisse's authentic Essiac formula.  However,  McPherson's recorded affidavit settled that controversy in 1994.  This eight-herb formula is actually Dr. Brusch's own formula, not Rene Caisse's Essiac formula.  Two of the herbs in this eight-herb formula were blessed thistle and kelp.  Rene Caisse never used these two herbs.

 >>>>>A few years before her death, Caisse came to the United States and worked with Dr. Brusch, the former personal physician to F. Kennedy. Together they modified the original formula by adding a specific amount of watercress. This was done because the original formula contains a high level of oxalic acids which can contribute to forming kidney stones. Brusch and Caisse determined that the correct amount of watercress would help the kidneys flush the acids out of the system. Later this new five herb formula was given to Dr. Bill Maclean who began preparing all the herbs individually in order to maximize their effectiveness.<<<<<<

Again, this info above is not true, it is false like most of the info in the link you posted... It says that Dr. Brusch and Nurse Caisse together modified the formula by adding watercress, actually, Nurse Caisse never gave the formula to Dr. Brusch, so it was not modified with watercress because the original formula contains high levels of oxalic acids, this is simply a lie.

http://www.healthfreedom.info/Who%20Owns%20Essiac.htm

Rene Caisse briefly joined forces with Dr. Brusch to research Essiac at the Brusch Medical Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1959-1960.  However, Rene Caisse did not give Dr. Brusch the Essiac formula.11  Dr. Brusch's formula, which was eventually called Flor•Essence®, was technically not Essiac tea because he used two herbs in the tea that Rene Caisse never used, blessed thistle and kelp.  The book ESSIAC, The Secrets of Rene Caisse's Herbal Pharmacy reveals all the herbs that Rene used.

>>>> Recently, Dr. Maclean began adding Cat's Claw to the formula and it is now being offered commercially under a number of different names. Though it is too soon to know how effective this new product will be, preliminary reports suggest that it may be helpful with cancer, diabetes, Parkinson's disease and even AIDS. It is certainly a product worthy of further investigation by the wholistic health community.<<<<

The above sounds like nothing more than one more person trying to change the Essiac recipe for profit... The above SHOULD NEVER BE USED. There is NO Cat's

Claw in Essiac tea... >>>The original Essiac Formula given to Rene Caisse can be traced back to the native Ojibway Indians of Canada. It is a formula that she later simplified utilizing four herbs: Burdock root, Slippery Elm bark, Turkey Rhubarb root and Sheep Sorrel. Of these four, the first three are referred to as hard tissue herbs (roots and/or barks) while the fourth is a soft tissue herb (leaves and/or flowers). Hard tissue herbs must be boiled in order to release all of their medicinal properties, while soft tissue herbs must be simmered at a temperature not exceeding 140 degrees.<<<

AGAIN, more misinformation.... Nurse Caisse and McPherson, her assistant, used four herbs, Burdock root, Slippery Elm bark, Turkey Rhubarb root and Sheeps

Sorrels and ALL OF THESE HERBS WERE BOILED FOR 10 MINUTES, this is required for REAL Essiac tea...  Below is the true recipe hand written by McPherson, Nurse Caisse assistant, it shows the correct herbs and she also says to " HARD BOIL FOR 10 MINUTES. " I've provided the link below to McPherson's handwritten affidavit and I also copied here handwritten affidavit below... I am not sure if it will show up on the group website or not, but it can be read in the link..

NOTE: this recipe is for making 2 gallons of Essiac tea, we make it in pints or quarts...

http://www.healthfreedom.info/McPherson%20Affidavit.htm

Honestly debbie, if you would just stick with the links I've posted above, this is the true and correct information about Essiac tea and Nurse Caisse... The link you posted sounds like nothing more than an advertisement for this yet

another new recipe for Essiac, and it is so poorly written as it is loaded with false information and most of thesehucksters sites are...Take care,Jim

Hmm... more information:

Cat's Claw & Essiac, Mother Nature's Wondrous Healers

by N. Steinberg, CNC

Health Store News, Oct/Nov. 19961983-2002 Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients

" This was done because the original formula contains a high level of oxalic acids which can contribute to forming kidney stones. Brusch and Caisse determined that the correct amount of watercress would help the kidneys flush the acids out of the system. "

" Why Commercial Essiac and Most Essiac Knock-Off Products Are Only Partially Effective

(Author's addendum to the above article as follows):

The original Essiac Formula given to Rene Caisse can be traced back to the native Ojibway Indians of Canada. It is a formula that she later simplified utilizing four herbs: Burdock root, Slippery Elm bark, Turkey Rhubarb root and Sheep Sorrel. Of these four, the first three are referred to as hard tissue herbs (roots and/or barks) while the fourth is a soft tissue herb (leaves and/or flowers). Hard tissue herbs must be boiled in order to release all of their medicinal properties, while soft tissue herbs must be simmered at a temperature not exceeding 140 degrees.

The majority of these products available commercially today have all the herbs mixed together with instructions to either boil or simmer them and they cannot be prepared separately. If all herbs are boiled, the enzymes and other medicinal properties in the Sheep Sorrel will be destroyed. If all herbs are simmered together, much of the medicinal properties in the Burdock root, Slippery Elm bark and Turkey Rhubarb root will not be released. "
