Thanks, Sheri and Robyn. I am going crazy here! Mrs. on told me that

things would get better once we saw the allergist/immunolog ist. I sure hope so,

because living like this is really difficult. I used to think that allergies

were just a nuisance, and that maybe people were just making excuses for bad

behavior, but I know better now!!!!!

The light at the end of the tunnel is that the reaction to food allergies seems

to be less and less dramatic as the child heals. We still react severly to red

dye of certain types but to most of the diet restrictions the behavior and

particularly the agression is way reduced. The other advantage is Connor now

relates the episodes to the foods he ate and when he does melt down I ask him

what foods caused it ahnd he admits he had a gumball or other food item that is

on the no no list. I am not trying to say we are or will be off the diet but

Connor is closer ansd closer to managimng his foods himself. This gives him tons

of new freedom, freinds and choices.

My son has been casein and soy free for 4 years and Dr. G's patient for 3.5. He

has had two minor dairy infractions in the last two months, both times while we

were travelling and both times the dairy was in a baked good (not even one of

the first ingredients). Horrible eczema around his mouth. I would think he

should be less sensitive after all this time and not more?

my son's food allergies were very bad (rashes were all over his body and very

itchy too), mostly 3's and 2's on the IGG test. I tried a lot of treaments and

they didn't help for the 1st 4 years. what really helped him is homeopathy after

4 monthes into the treatment he was 85% better, within 9 months (his skins were

all clear, thank God), it was a mircale to us.

You can write to me privatly if you need more info.

thanks,

I would love it. My kids miss muffins and it would be good to get some veggies

into my littlest one.

Thanks!

Carole,

When my son is yeasty, all he wants to do is eat carbs, which perpetuates that

cycle.  I have a hard time w/diet variety too, and if all you can find is one

kind of meat that he'll eat well, sometimes that's the best you can do.  My son

loves salami (wierd since he won't touch many things w/a lot of flavor), and

recently became interested in seafood.  He will eat shrimp now too.  But mostly,

he eats cold hamburger patties.

I couldn't get a wide variety in him early on, but I steadily decreased the

carbs, and it has definitely made a huge difference.  Now he can tell when he

gets too carbed out that it makes him queasy later, as well is irritable.

I have been looking at this as well. Very high IGe and regardless of what we do

with the diet they will not go down. After several discussions, an interesting

aspect came to light. A high IGe is a combination of both environmental

allergies and food allergies. Very sensitive immune system - hot so to speak. If

you block the reaction of the environmental allergies (Claritin, Flonases) you

stop the symptoms but you do not effect the high IGe numbers nor cool off the

reaction. . They still flair the immune system. The environmental stuff can be

desensitized and if that is successful the IGe numbers will no longer reflect

environmental allergies only food allergies. In theory anyway. There was the

first report of a young boy being desensitized to a food allergy (sever Peanut

allergy) reported last year but most will tell you that you can not desensitize

against food allergies at this item but if we can separate the food from the

environmental allergies it

would be a good starting point.

Sandy,

What are you planning on doing to desensitize?

Snady,

Welcome to the list. It¹s always great to have someone new join the group!

I have a thought to add and that is that yeast overgrowth can cause with

constipation. An antifungal might help if that were the case. Could the

allergies be flaring when he is constipated because he¹s reacting to yeast?

Just a thought.

By the way, I LOVED Dr. Sicherer¹s book ³Understanding and Managing

Your Child's Food Allergies². It¹s a s Hopkins Press book. You can get

it on Amazon (get the paperback.. it¹s much cheaper than the hardcover). I

thought it was fascinating. I recommended it to a friend who is a dietician

and she said she couldn¹t put it down.

Best of luck. One more comment... some people who are anaphylactic to

chicken eggs do fine on duck eggs. We used to buy them from a local farm.

Evidently ducks and chicken are classified in different food families...

duck is from the ³Duck Family² (no surprise there!) and chicken is from the

³Pheasant Family².

Hi everyone,

We've not posted here before. Our boy, Eddie, has profound allergies. He

has had early onset autism and has lost his diagnosis. However, he still

has profound allergies and no bowel sIgA. I am in remission from

auto-immune disease... as a family we have hugely improved health with 3.5

yrs biomed (including herbs for Lyme + Yasko). But need to go further with

improving our immune systems and dealing with allergies.

Eddie is anaphylactic to wheat and egg and reacts on contact - he has very

low tolerance to luteins (the yellow in many yellow and green veg and foods)

and reacts to about 50% of all foods.

We have learnt his allergies flare when he is constipated AND when

clostridia has taken a hold.

We are looking to desensitise in the future.

Best wishes, Sandy
