Just want to comment that while the " dos and don'ts " on Dr. G's website is very helpful, it is a bit outdated and there are some items listed there as being " o.k. " that he no longer permits. Rice Dream, for example, and Tofurella cheese substitute (which has casein -- a definite NO-NO). The only cheese substitutes that are permitted are Soymage and the Tofutti brand cheese substitutes. It seems to me that the basic rules are the following (please feel free to jump in and correct me): > > No dairy, no whole grains, avoid organic because it usually has whole grains (I do buy organic fruits and veggies when I available), avoid tropical fruits, berries, including cherries, no nuts except highly processed peanut butter, such as JIF. > > You can have: > > 2 servings of fruits per day (no tropical) > Veggies > Meats > Processed white bread > > We stay away from anything exotic or unusual, which is why I was pretty sure the hemp milk was going to be a no-no. > > For breakfast, Dr. G usually recommends rice krispies cereal (just make sure it isn't brown rice) with milk substitute, such as Mocha Mix, soy, or some are using potato milk, and some sort of breakfast meat--we use turkey sausage and bacon. > > HTH, > > Robyn >
