Guest guest
Save your money. Her experience mirrors what many of us have described, with one glaring exception. I know if I had the money to continue to travel to every person recommended until I could piece together enough caregivers with sufficient skill and if I could continue to pay for all of the tests and all of the treatments, and continue to try every treatment without having to be conscious and upright enough to be able work on a regular basis to keep body and soul together, I'd be back doing my sport, too. The book is intensely commercial, with each chapter pointing to an appendix, most of which then point to (or attempt to point to...lots of errors here) some part of her web site where you're pointed to product. A few page " treatment plan " is touted as an " ebook " that is locked down by passwords that don't work, and once you finally get it open, it can't be printed, because, the response came, she's been " plagiarized " too many times. A strong word, indeed, from someone who has largely compiled work that has been freely shared by those in the community seeking to " raise all ships " , as it were. There's a generosity of spirit that I find in the community, which is in glaring contrast to the energy of the book. I didn't find anything in the book that I haven't read either here or in 's work or other related publications, and the writing is in the painfully overwrought style of these sorts of first person " struggle " narratives. And there was the traditional " diss " of the groups as being not focused on healing. I don't fault her for trying to recoup her recovery costs, but there are more gracious approaches. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that each person's experience of this illness is unique. No " blueprint " for healing exists. She presents a list of related things that may be of help to some people and which, in this case, worked for her. The book may be of limited use to someone just starting on the healing journey, but I would hope they wouldn't think it the final authority. I normally try to be charitable, but look at it this way - I emailed and thanked him for compiling the information in his books, because it saved me from having to do all of that particular research from scratch and it was so generously presented. The " Tick Slayer " ? I'm so aggravated by the energy of it, the posturing, and the money that I'm thinking about torching it on the barbecue. That's just my opinion. Could be the vomiting migraines talking, but...nah...it's me. Now off to bed to fight for a couple hours of pain-free sleep. Guest guest
Thanks Fifi and Meo, After reading 's books, it's hard to find a new book that actually offers new information. I wonder why 's publishing company is marketing it? Khaya > > > > > > > > > > Has anyone followed , from _www.BeatLyme.com_ > > > > > (http://www.BeatLyme.com) ? Guest guest
In my reading of the book, I found it to be interesting and encouraging, but I agree, it didn't have a ton of new information. Still, though, I thought it was a worthwhile book. However, from what I'm hearing, people are not fond of it. If anyone bought it from Lymebook.com and wants their money back, they can return the book, no questions asked. > > > > > > > > > > > > Has anyone followed , from _www.BeatLyme.com_ > > > > > > (http://www.BeatLyme.com) ? Guest guest
, I think it's very generous of you to offer refunds on this book. Personally, I have not purchased a copy. But in all fairness, I actually found her website quite inspiring. And I imagine if people have questions after reading her book, they could contact her through the website. I think it's in one of the prior messages below: www.BeatLyme.com I mentioned to my husband that she was using the book to recoup her losses due to LD, and he said a lot of people do that. Perhaps she did not do the best job possible, but it's her first book. And the website is very well done. She obviously has resources that most of us don't have--especially energy. Guest guest
Thanks , though I am not upset that I bought the book. I enjoyed reading 's story. I just felt that the book did not have anything further to offer me other than what I had already learned. I also would have liked it to cover more detail into the different treating modalities that she tried. However, I feel that someone new to Lyme could gain a lot from this book with ideas and encouragement. I am sorry if my prior post was too negative on the story because while reading the book I did have a hard time putting it down -- I just wish I got more out of it...
