Guest guest
Okay, so our three-month supply of Imunovir arrived today. It is a capsule with powder inside. During the week, my son is supposed to take 1/2 of the contents of each capsule four times a day, and one whole capsule at bedtime; and 1/2 and 1 (two doses) on weekend days. He doesn't swallow pills yet because of his over-reactive gag reflex (we've tried the pill-swallowing cup...worthless). I normally administer meds for him in a tablespoon of non-dairy frozen dessert. My problem is dosing during the week. That many doses will require having meds administered at school. They will have to break open the capsule and give him half of the powder, and they can't exactly give it to him in frozen dessert! Plus, are they prepared to store the rest of the powder and give it to him the next day? The thought of someone else administering meds to (and there's no full-time nurse there; meds are usually dispensed by an aide) really makes me nervous. Those of you doing Imunovir with your kids...how do you deal with meds being administered at school? TIA, Donna
