I have three boys on the protocol and one who has similar reactions. He has

eczema and it flares within 30 minutes of consuming an offending food. His

behavior deteriorates as well. His food allergy panel show lots of significant

allergies, including eggs, egg whites, peanut butter, beef, citrus, pineapple .

.. . just to name a few.

Yes my daughter has behavioral reactions to many food items as well as

environmental  She has improved significantly since taking her to the

immunologist.  Of course the first immunologist that I took her to told me that

she has intolerance's but none of the foods are true allergies and sadly he told

me that she could continue eating everything.  Once I learned about and got

her on the protocol I realized that this was not the case.  I later learned that

mold is a serious problem for my daughter and it causes many behavioral

reactions that are pretty amazing and then I learned that 's favorite

foods were high mold foods.  Once we removed these items things improved and we

began treating for her allergy issues and life is good.  That being said

if comes in contact with one of her main allergens life is tough again.

An example would be when our basement flooded last month.  WOW was out of

it until we had

the walls removed and the basement cleaned properly then we used an ozonator.

I am a believer.  Sheri

Just wanted to share that my son also has several allergies. He is being worked

up for inborn errors of metabolism. We know he has one we just don't know which

one. I just wanted to throw it out there for those of you who are trying to

figure out what's wrong with your child. My son has been vomiting since he was

born. We've adjusted his diet and have done many things but I think we are

starting to find the missing link.

Thanks, Sheri and Robyn. I am going crazy here! Mrs. on told me that

things would get better once we saw the allergist/immunologist. I sure hope so,

because living like this is really difficult. I used to think that allergies

were just a nuisance, and that maybe people were just making excuses for bad

behavior, but I know better now!!!!!

Our son has severe food allergies as well. (almost all of the ones you

mentioned) One thing he loves is homemade sweet potato chips roasted in the

oven and zucchini fries made in a deep fryer. I would be happy to share how

I make these if you like.

Robyn,

Another thing I do is puree veggies like broccoli and sneak it into their

spaghetti sauce.

Glad to share. I hope you enjoy these as much as we do. The zuchinni fries

are the easiest. I peel the zuchinni and cut in strips like fries and just

deep fry them in canola oil in a deep fryer called a " fry daddy " . The sweet

potato chips are more labor intensive, but are worth it. I use a mandolin to

slice the potato (which are peeled) in even chip slices. I put the chips in

a ziplock bag and pour olive oil over them to coat (not too much). Then lay

them out on a cookie sheet and sprinkle with salt. I have a convection oven

so I usually do three cookie sheets at a time. It will depend on your oven

and the thickness of your chips but I usually roast mine at 400 for 15 min

on one side. Then I take them out and let them cool enough so I can flip

them and then I roast again for 7-12 min or so until they are crispy. I

usually have to watch them and take out a few from the oven earlier than the

rest. This is very time consuming but our whole family enjoys them. We have

also made sweet potato fries the same way we make the zucchini fries.

Enjoy!

Joy,

Our son has severe food allergies, too. Who does the work up for inborn errors

of metabolism? Your allergist or Goldberg? We are puzzled trying to figure out

what in the world is causing the IGE to remain abnormally high. If there was a

test to get to the bottom of it I would love to know about it. Does the

metabolism test help with this?

Thanks for your help.

My daughter had this. She vomited approx every 30 hours and gagged several times

a day (even in her sleep), ate very small quantities (but fortunately loved

food) and was very, very tiny for her age. Then, she started developing

post-secondary infections from excess mucous that required one anti-biotic after

another. We put her on lamb and rice for 4 weeks, then reintroduced one new food

at a time and waited up to 4 weeks in between intros to watch for signs of

intolerance again. Her main 'culprit' was corn. Grapes and dairy also were

problems. These were intolerances, not allergies. Very different things. I read

" The Complete Guide to Food Intolerances and Allergies " to help me figure things

out.

Kristy,

I guess you did lamb and rice at every meal? How did you prepare the lamb? I

am thinking we need to go this route with our son.

I sauteed thin cuts of lamb in a tiny amount of canola oil, then seasoned with a

pinch of salt and cut into rice-grain sized pieces. She was a toddler at the

time, so it was easiset to mix it all together and also easier to do because of

her age.

Sorry to make this even more difficult, but this only works if you are not

intolerant or allergic to lamb or rice (things both my son and I were

allergic to). My son and I were both over-reactors. We still have this

problem but fortunately not as dramatic. We used a rotation diet for awhile

and

kept a food and behavior/symptom diary to find problems before seeing Dr.

Goldberg and took more out of his diet when seeing Dr. G. Sadly,

didn't do much to solve this problem, though it did help with overall health and

functioning.

We did find a few things that have helped dramatically. First, taking

enzymes before every meal. Second, my son's endocrinologist prescribed

Periactin, an anti-histamine used for digestive issues. Third, we did the

genetics test through Dr. Amy Yasko and discovered several mutations my son had

that contributed to this heightened response. Since starting a few of the

things to correct or aide the systems affected by these mutations, my son

has been much less sensitive overall and his EOS and IgE counts are much

lower. Keeping his yeast under control also has a dramatic impact on his EOS

and IgE counts.

Periactin does not help digestive issues, but it is often used with those who

are having them because it can increase appetite.

Seeing an environmental allergist trained in the

Provocation/Neutralization technique is instrumental

in cooling down allergies in a kid that doesn't

respond to antihistamines. My daughter is one of

them. She can barely eat anything right now...besides

being GF/CF. We are just starting this treatment on

our daughter right now and already seeing great

results.

Dr. Doris Rapp details this in her book " Is This Your

Child "

Hi everyone,

We've not posted here before. Our boy, Eddie, has profound allergies. He has

had early onset autism and has lost his diagnosis. However, he still has

profound allergies and no bowel sIgA. I am in remission from auto-immune

disease... as a family we have hugely improved health with 3.5 yrs biomed

(including herbs for Lyme + Yasko). But need to go further with improving our

immune systems and dealing with allergies.

Eddie is anaphylactic to wheat and egg and reacts on contact - he has very low

tolerance to luteins (the yellow in many yellow and green veg and foods) and

reacts to about 50% of all foods.

We have learnt his allergies flare when he is constipated AND when clostridia

has taken a hold.

We are looking to desensitise in the future.

Best wishes, Sandy

Sandy,

What are you planning on doing to desensitize?

Dear Caroline and ,

Caroline - thank you for your warm welcome to the group. I am looking forward

to learning more about here.

Yeast is a constant companion of ours (all 3 of us) and it is a constant battle

of rotating antifungal approaches.

I have the book in our amazon trolley and am just ordering some goose eggs

(we'll try a little touch test first of course). Thanks so much for these

ideas!

- we are interested in Enzyme Potentiated Desensitization but not quite

ready to make the leap - need to learn some more first. We are in the UK.

Best wishes,

Sandy
