I apologize for another post about Immunovir, but I had a question regarding dosing. Dr. Goldberg is going to have us start this and we just got the product from Canada. He recommends giving 1 in the morning, 1/2 midday, 1/2 midafternoon, and 1 at night. What have parents done with any dose that might have to be given in school? My guess is because this is not FDA approved, that the school would not cooperate. I work, so I would not be able to go to school to give him that dose. So I guess I am asking what have other parents done here or if they had found cooperation with their child's pediatrician or school. Thanks in advance. Guest guest
I wish it was that easy. Our nurse will look for number codes that are usually printed on medications in the US. The Immunovir that we have doesn't have any....She already acts as though she is freaked out by giving him the regular meds. Not the most open-minded individual... Guest guest
There is a form that the school provides and you have Dr. G's office fill it out. Guest guest
Robyn I had the form filled out and the school still refused to give a med that was not packaged and labeled with dosage and schedule from a pharmacy. Here the schools act like our kids are just an inconvenience and they look for ways to be uncooperative. ________________________________ From: Robyn & Greg Coggins <rngcoggs@...> Sent: Friday, May 29, 2009 12:29:55 PM Subject: RE: Question about Immunovir dosing There is a form that the school provides and you have Dr. G's office fill it out. Guest guest
Hi, You might be better of getting the Immunovir compounded by a compounding pharmacy and then you can get the dosage and the schedule information that the school is asking for. Guest guest
Unbelievable. What would they do if your doctor wanted your child to have an OTC med? This is why I decided to wait and start on Immunovir when we break for the summer. You may want to call the district office and tell them you want to see the policy in writing. All the best and good luck, Robyn From: <jrodrig6605@ hotmail.com> Subject: RE: Question about Immunovir dosing nidsgroups (DOT) com Date: Friday, May 29, 2009, 6:51 AM The schools don't know the difference between FDA approved or not. Guest guest
Can you have Rivex Pharma -- or whatever your source is -- provide a label and a schedule? I provided a copy of the prescription as it was written by Dr. G and the school accepted it.
