Guest guest
My son did trials on both Tennex and Effexor. The Tennex helped a little bit with his attention and focus but after about a year on it, he developed weird mood swings. Effexor wasn't a good fit for him but has helped others. You might double-check with Dr. G's office about the 5 week wait. Perhaps he wanted your son to start one of the meds and then wait 5 weeks before starting the other instead of waiting 5 weeks and then starting both. I recall Dr. G. only wanting to change one thing at a time typically so he could see what happened with each. Gaylen **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps! Guest guest
Thanks Gaylen for your email. I did just email Dr. G about really needing to do something immediate for Connor. We can't wait 5 weeks ...His OCD is through the roof. He has been removed from his classroom because he is so disruptive. I just had an emergency IEP yesterday and they are talking about moving him to a severely handicapped school because none of the staff can control him.. This coming from kid that used to be just a bit quirky, sat through an inclusive classroom, did his work without an aide, rode the school bus independently - to a 16 year old requiring a full 1:1 aide in both classroom and on the bus - being sequested to a small classroom for just himself and his aides. I cant beleive this is happening. What is your son on now and are you seeing any good results? Thank you! Guest guest
Hi Thanks for your response. I just wrote to Gaylyn about Connor as well - I think you are right about needing a different antiviral. I just emailed a report to Dr. G - we'll see what he says... We've been on Acyclovar for 5 months - so I dont think it's die off... Was the antihypertensive drug you used an SSRI? I'm just so frustrated that nothing works to even modestly improve my boys. Not one thing. Thank you for the correspondance - I cannot tell you and everyone else how much it helps me and whats left of my sanity! Cherie From: <jlhank80@...> Subject: Re: Question about new antivirals Date: Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 9:16 AM I am so sorry, Cherie, that you have not seen any benefits, yet! I wonder if your sons are on the right antiviral? As for the Tenex, my daughter was on it and it an antihypertensive drug that is used to increase blood flow to a specific part of the brain as to decrease hyperactivity and improve attention. My daughter was on it and it made her tired and did not help her because her issue was a different one: her allergies. Unlike DAN treatments, in every drug is tested on each child one at a time, so the doctor knows what works and what doesn't. Each child is their own " control " so to speak.
