Hi all,

In September, Kim's ent said she would need pe tubes for the rest of her life as due to the deformaties her ears would not drain fluid. The last year I had noticed a regression in her speech and balance. Well, on 12/29 she got her tubes. Seemed harder on her this time in regard to pain, etc. and complained about itching and all the things her doctor had said would happen. She had never complained before and has had tubes more times than I can remember. Three days ago a friend of one of my sons came over and their sitting around talking when all of a sudden we heard someone say, "hi , how are you?" The entire room went silent. It was Kim! Clear as a bell. On Monday, I got home from school and Kim told me to call her older brother, who was at his dad's, said she had talked to him on the phone. So I called to find out what he needed. When I told him that Kim kept telling me to call him he couldn't understand why because he had talked with Alia, Kims twin. Alia started to laugh as she had not spoken with him. It was Kim and he didn't know the difference. We had the first audiogram done today since the tubes. She still has moderate to severe sensorineural loss in the right ear but the left has improved to mild to moderate. Her new hearing aides were ordered today and I can't wait to see the improvement with them. She even walks better. Doesn't wobble as much and I can tell she has more balance. I am so thrilled and just wanted to share. Lydia

mom to chrgr Kim 15, Alia 15, 16, and 19
