Hi

I am a member of the MB12 Valtrex group and have recently been made aware of

this group by a very kind listmate.

We are in the UK and my Son is 6. We began diet and biomed, and a home

program (VB) at 2 and a half under a UK DAN and Consultant for the VB therapy.

My son now attends an ABA/VB school in the UK.

He is on a range of supplements.

After wonderful progress and definitely recovery from severe autism (my son

could not place one brick on top of another at this age) we lost him for a year.

This was due we think to chelation (DMSA) which I wish I'd never touched. The

bacteria and yeast people speak of were horrible realities for us and we lost

him a second time. I am not saying Frequent Dose Chelation isn't way to go for

some kids - it wasn't the issue as we were later to discover. I personally wish

we'd never touched it for our child.

The issue is definitely our son's immune system. When we put him on Immunovir

it was like the comeback kid! Fine motor dramatic improvement, cognitive,

attention, listening, the works. I wish I knew at aged 2 for what I know

now.

He is on 500mg per day. Been on it since November 2008. We had the best

Christmas ever! Anyone doing more? Does the combination cancel each other out?

Anyway we appear to have plateaued on Immunovir, and we have now started to

treat him with Valtrex. He tested positive IGG for CMV (300 versus a range of

10) Epstein-Barr, HV6, HV1. For HV6 we found a current infection.

I was shocked at some of the ranges, especially CMV as he had a virus at 2,

which knocked him sideways. I think it was CMV. He could have had it at birth

because he had " colic " which went away in two weeks, a bit unusual for colic! He

never got over this virus. The emergency unit told us it was febrile

convulsions and gave us antibiotics. He cried all night and all the next day.

We took him back but they told us he would get over it. Now I know so many

parents I now find ours was a common experience. He was developing fine until

this point and has had no vaccinations except Vitamin K to date.

We are only able to dose him two x 250 mg Valtrex per day. He's been on it just

a few days. Seems OK fingers crossed, we can only take it as it comes.

I am so pleased I found this list and look forward to sharing your experiences,

and posting any information I have that might be useful to others.

Recovery and happiness to your children and families,

Eileen in UK
