Guest guest
Hi -Thanks for the info! What is Dr. Goldberg's recommedation regarding the H1N1 flu vaccine? Should they get this also and is it safe? Pneumonia Vaccination - recommended by Dr. Goldberg Hi all, Dr. Goldberg asked me to post this message. He said that with the flu season approaching and all the concerns about the H1N1 virus it wouldn't be a bad idea to think about giving our children the Pneumonia Vaccination. He said this vaccination is very safe. He also said that people develop that have the worst symptoms after acquiring the H1N1 is not because of the virus itself, but because the develop other medical problems including pneumonia. Guest guest
He did and I can't remember what the reason was. He did emphasize the Prevnar (pneumonia) vaccine was important. I won't get regular flu shots for my kids anymore. My son's tipping point was after a flu vacc when he was 18 months AND the flu vaccine usually covers less than 50% of the flus that are out there. I've read some reports that our kids are the most likely to die from the flu, yet they are also not supposed to get the shots because they have immune compromised systems that make them less tolerant of the shots. It's a catch 22. Kristy From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of gvizjazz@... Guest guest
Thanks Kristy. I'll take that as the Lord giving me the answer. I'd rather strengthen my son's immune system and not compromise it. Lots of vitamin D and common sense is how I will respond until further proof of a greater need. dawn  ________________________________ From: Kristy Nardini <knardini@...> Sent: Sunday, September 13, 2009 1:12:14 PM Subject: RE: Pneumonia Vaccination - recommended by Dr. Goldberg  He did and I can't remember what the reason was. Guest guest
We saw him about a week ago and, at this time, he is not recommending the h1n1 vaccine. He wants to wait until he gets more info on the trials. Getting the pneumonia vax makes sense, though. The people who die from the flu die from secondary infection, such has pneumonia. With my kids, everything goes straight into bronchitis, so we will get the vax on our next visit. All the best. Guest guest
My husband had an appt with Dr. G on Thursday. At this point in time, he is NOT recommending H1N1 vax. He is reserving judgment until all the facts are in. Most people who become critically ill from the flu do so due to secondary infections, such as pneumonia, hence the recommendation for the pneumoccal vax.
