When you were with the DAN, what was the dosage on the Valtrex? From what I

understand, DAN doctors often underdose the antiviral. This may have created

resistance in the virus to antivirals, so it may take longer to get a handle on

things.

Your son has been very sick for a long time; it's going to take some time for

his body to heal.

All the best,

Robyn

Subject: No gains with Famvir or Nizoral??

Hello group,

My son(10) had been on Famvir & nizoral for about 4mths. We've not seen any

improvements/ gains so far. Everything is the same or may be worse in some

areas. We were really expecting changes especially after starting nizoral.

We're now thinking may be there's no yeast issue with our son??? Dr.G. wants to

keep the nizoral but may be change famvir next time we talk. My son was on

valtrex for 3mths when we were with a DAN doc last year & we didn't see results

either. Not sure what he's going to switch us to next.

I just wanted to ask if anyone had the same experience & what changes helped

later??? about how long do you wait to see if any of these meds help??

Thanks for any info.

My son (8) is on Valtrex, Nizoral, and Paxil.  I started the diet 6 months

before visiting Dr. G and starting the meds.  He seemed to be moving forward

with the Diet alone.

Since he started the meds, he has more downs than ups.  A mom in the local

support group says it has taken a year to see improvement in her child.  My son

has been on the drugs for 6 months, so I am trying to be hopeful.

How are your son's lab tests looking? Some kids take longer than others to get

better depending on how ill they were at the beginning of the treatment. The

last thing you can do is give up, always keep the faith.

I have found that it is super important to follow Dr. G's instructions

carefully. Frequent updates are really important, and be sure to report all

kinds of observations so he knows when and where to make changes.

My son was pretty much an immediate responder. I have heard that some kids

take much, much longer. And, I have heard that some kids might not respond

at all.

What about allergies? What are you doing to address those? I saw the hugest

gains in my daughter when fixed her diet and started allergy treatments on her.

She did some gains on Valtrex and Diflucan, but we needed to address her

allergies. I know allergies seem benign and harmless, but my daughter did not

have a runny nose. She had tantrums, potty accidents, hyperactivity, facial

tics, and excessive stimming.

My daughter (5) was on Valtrex for 6 months with a DAN (including lots of

supplements), dr. G told me she must have made resistance to it because of the

suplements, but any way we try for 4 more months adding fluconazole and

suspending all the suplements. Little improvements

After that, we change to Famvir, she is 2 months on Famvir and she did a big

improve in speech and others; we also switched Paxil for Celexa, this also

helped .

So, be a little patience, be carefull with the updates, they are important to

find the medicines that will fit with your son.

My son has never been one to have great gains from any med. So it's been

very hard to gauge what works and doesn't, for us the key was increased

hyperactivity. This was what Dr G would change things for. Sometimes die

off can appear like hyperactivity but if it continues too long it's

probably the wrong med. Just our experience. Jerri

,

We have been doing this since my son was five. He now is twenty and

recovered. He has passed to the other side and living a " normal " life

whatever that is. I would love to talk to you and help if I can. I don't

totally understand the medical but do know what worked for my kid.

Sometimes if we put our heads together we can make some suggestions that

help Dr. G help us. Please call me if I can assist you with this terribly

complex issue of helping our kids.
