Hey, Donna.

How about Kyodophilus (sp?)? We use it  when using antibiotics and I've had good

luck with it. Dr. G approves of it as well. Our kids are not as sensitive to

this particular strain of probiotics.

All the best,

Robyn

...can yeast do this??? has also been more sensory-avoiding/

seeking -- eye contact is also off, and he's pretty zoney, talking about Super

and Co -- All. The. Time. I don't think it's strep; that's never been a

problem for him, and he's not doing any of those repetitive things that you see

kids with PANDAS doing. And I don't think there have been any diet infractions

in recent weeks.

Dr. G tells me that there is too much carbohydrates in 's diet, and I

agree, but he is so self-limiting, and we've already taken out nearly everything

that he likes. It's taken nearly a year just to get him to (grudgingly) add

three new foods to his diet!

Any input to get yeast under control is appreciated. ..:)

TIA,

Donna

P.S. He's on Nizarol, not due for a anti-fungal change until December.

What are your son's favorite foods? I've been able to find a lot of

alternatives for my son to help get the carbs lowered. His diet isn't

perfect, but it's better now than before.

Hi,

I noticed the biggest changes in my son's sensory problems w/antifungals.  It

wasn't that he was so overloaded w/yeast, but rather hypersensitive to even

small amounts.  Another trigger is bacterial, including just a low grade sinus

infection that is hardly noticable but responds to antibiotics -again, risking a

yeast kickup, but any infection makes him more sensative to yeast.  I always

fretted about the antibiotics since I observed so much improvement

w/antifungals, but I have yet to see antibiotics make things worse when they

really needed them, except when it was simply the wrong type of antibiotics (we

can't do augmentin or amoxycylin for sure).

I have found that it is rarely about one particular microbe, that yeast, viral,

bacterial, and diet all correlate together to make him reactive.

High yeast foods can make some kids react like they have yeasty guts.

Re high carb diets, we have the same problem, but the general rule that is

enforced in my house is that protein (and enough of it) must always be eaten

first, and then the carbs next, and they are limited (not as limited as they

should be but it is still much better).  " Just one more bite of meat " is a

common statement in our house.  Rather than panick about the carbs, focus on

increasing the protein.  The change in your perspective (and temporarily using

the carbs to reward) may help you subconciously and you can cope better while

you try to shift the protein/carb ratio instead of feeling like you're

'poisoning' him when he eats.  I have wicked diet phobias (my ocd) and I have to

work hard to balance my perspective, and sometimes I don't have a lot of control

over what they are willing to eat ... but when I'm more relaxed, it comes out

somehow and the energy I project over food does seem to affect their willingness

to follow 'my way'. :)

HTH-

I have seen allergies do this in my child. So bad that she starts doing facial

tics!

My daughter doesn't have typical " runny nose, sneezing " allergies. Is your son

on any allergy meds?
