Guest guest
What insurance do you have? We order ours through Medco by mail and the tablets alone cost us $50 per month. Thanks, JR From: adhurka@... Date: Fri, 17 Jul 2009 04:28:05 -0500 Subject: Valtrex & Insurance Hello, We saw Dr. last week and are very excited to start my son on Valtrex. I just picked up the prescription and I paid $225 (Original cost of Valtrex $650 and insurance covered $425). I was very surprised! If this is our monthly cost, I am scared if we can sustain it. Are an other anti-virals cheaper? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Arch Archana Dhurka

Guest guest
We have BCBS Colorado. We have a $250 pharmacy co-pay per year, so the first scripts of the year cost us $250, then insurance kicks in and pays most of the cost. Guest guest
We have federal BCBS and our copay for Valtrex is $35. I'm the only one on it; all the kids are on Famvir and it works very well for them. There is a generic available for it; I've been trying to find out when a generic will be available for Valtrex. I'm guessing it's pretty soon because Valtrex is offering these great coupons at our pharmacy. First they covered $10 of my copay and the next one covers $25. Check with your pharmacist or google Valtrex and check with the pharma company. Guest guest
I think the patent on Valtrex expires this year, so perhaps a generic could come available real soon. ________________________________ From: Robyn & Greg Coggins <rngcoggs@...> Sent: Tuesday, August 25, 2009 2:21:23 PM Subject: RE: Valtrex & Insurance We have federal BCBS and our copay for Valtrex is $35. Guest guest
I've asked our pharmacist about this, but no one has a date yet. I do know it's supposed to be this year. That's probably why Valtrex is offering all the promotions they are; trying to get patients to stick with the name brand. Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals have received the go ahead to manufacture the generic, but I can't find info on availability.
