My son takes Immunovir and Acyclovir at school. All we had to do was get a med

form from the school nurse and have Dr. G's staff fill it out.

Hi all,

Have any of you asked your children's schools to administer Immunovir and

Valtrex to your children during school hours?

If so, have you had any problems with the schools asking about what the

medications are for and questioning their use?

Thanks,

JR

Thinking back I did have an issue with the school due to the fact that I did not

have a standard " WalGreens " label on the bottle. I went to the local pharmacist

(mom and pop) and talked him out of a blank label based on the schools

stupidity. I then broke out an old manual typewriter and simply typed a new

label.

Fighting the system helps vent the frustration but sometimes it is easier to

just appear to comply and go on with more important tasks at hand. Stupid,

arrogant, self center people do not deserve to have the ability to waste your

important time. If they don't have the ability to mess with you they just go on

to the next person and screw with them. Sad but true, can't change the world - I

gave up and focus on getting my son healthy.

Great job looking up the laws, Robyn. A letter with the law quoted by

article should do the trick. I can't believe the arrogance of the school

districts thinking they can ignore a medical doctor's orders. Another thing

that is extremely important with our kids is to put every request in

writing. Then there is a record and they can't blow you off because they

don't feel comfortable. Always copy someone higher up and even the district

level. Let us know what happens JR and Peggy. We think this is a gimme and

one the school will not win. Good Luck

Marcia

Here¹s a link that lists discusses administering medicine on the premises of

schools...

http://www.enotes.com/everyday-law-encyclopedia/administering-medicine

It lists some states and their codes, which might help some of you who are

looking for laws in your state. It does say that ³Not all states have

addressed the issue at the state level, and persons needing information are

best advised to start with their local school districts.², so this may mean

that local districts can get away with doing as they please.

There are federal laws as well that deal with this issue.
