Guest guest
Thermograpy doesn't pick up anything until it is well invasive. I had three spots of DCIS and one tiny spot of invasive. Thermography didn't get any of them. Guest guest
Hi Val, In your case, what would have been able to detect the problem areas? I have heard that there are breast cancer situations that mammography won't pick up either. Guest guest
Mammography picked up two spots of DCIS in my left breast. Both biopsies were positive. For several reasons, I went ahead with a bilateral mastectomy. As it turned out, I also had DCIS in my right breast, plus a tiny 1.7 invasive tumor in my left. Mammography had never detected any problem in the right breast. As it turned out, the angel that sits on my shoulder was better than any man-made system. As far as treating DCIS, this is what Dr. Ralph Moss, a world renowned cancer researcher says: " Precisely what percentage of these latent, precancerous lesions might eventually progress to become truly invasive tumors is unknown, although it has been estimated that almost 50 percent of all in situ cancers will never progress and would be better left undetected and therefore untreated (Handler 2003). " " Perhaps one day in the future there will be a way of distinguishing between those women whose DCIS poses an imminent threat of invasiveness and those whose lesions are harmless, so that treatment can be directed only towards those who truly need it. Currently, though, such a test does not exist. " My oncologist said the same thing.
