Guest guest
It's not simple green. That stuff is TOXIC. Kristy From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Javan Sent: Saturday, September 26, 2009 4:53 PM Subject: Re: Mounting research is finding a VERY strong link to Autism..... Hi Kristy- thanks for the input. I did a little research and was looking for the 'all purpose' cleaner you found/use at COSTCO, and the only one I could find online was the 'SIMPLE GREEN' all purpose cleaner- which I wanted to say a few things about, but first. I've had the NeuroSPECT scan done at UCLA- You can actually see pictures of 'my' brain and results on this web site where I posted them. http://www.ei-resource.org/myblog/SPECT-Scan-of-Multiple-Chemical-Sensitivit y-MCS-Patient-Brain.html I had the scan done back in 2006, and have been working on treatment, first with Dr. Goldberg, then with Dr. ever since. I just want to put out examples that I have had tests, brain scans, loads of blood work and drug and nutrition treatment for a few yaers... I don't know a whole lot about your difficulties and such- and I'd like to learn more. After getting my NeuroSPECT scan done I was told I have the same scans and problems they find in Autistic patients. After doing a lot of research and work with doctors I've come to find out that my condition seems to 'mostly' be driven by diet and ESPECIALLY chemicals, fumes, pollution, smog, etc. When you come into contact with breathing in fumes of different kinds, perfume, diesel exhaust, regular fabric softener, paint, glue, etc., etc., etc.- Do you find yourself having any melt-downs or extreme crying spells, or totally uncontrollable flashes of anger and rage? I'm just trying to get an idea as to how severe the problems you deal with are. I am not sure if you were talking about the 'SIMPLE GREEN' all purpose cleaner or not... but I have tried using the 'SIMPLE GREEN' and I can honestly say it makes my condition much worse... I cannot tolerate it whatsoever. I know it claims to be natural and biodegradable, but I find that it effects me just as much if not more than regular cleaner. I have total and utter meltdowns using it... I find myself incredibly depressed, very OCD, unable to think clearly, very agitated, and as extreme as it sounds, sometimes suicidal... it is THAT painful on many levels. There are strong links of chemicals and environmental pollution playing a part in Autism as it turns out. Since I have the blood work similar to other patients, the SPECT brain scans, many of the same problems, and react to the same food- I am trying to provide somewhat of an adult perspective as to how many of these autistic children likely feel- and MORE importantly, what will likely work for them as well. An adult guinea pig in a way... someone that can provide feedback as to how they are feeling, what this 'Neuro-immune' disorder feels like and what works and doesn't work for me. Unfortunately there are a lot of products and things out there that 'claim' to be all natural, and 'green,' but really are not, or are grossly exaggerated. I would just love to help a lot of the mothers get the chemicals out of their children's lives to help them improve. Unfortunately it is very difficult to always know what is environmentally 'legit' and what isn't. Since many of the children cannot entirely give proper feedback it can be very difficult to figure out what is working and what is not. If there is something I can gain from having to deal with this illness it is the knowledge I've gained to help others not suffer like I've had to suffer. In no sense of the imagination do I intend to come off offensive with your Kristy- especially considering I don't now how severe your condition is, but while a product might not cause a person to have a dermatological reaction, or Histamine-1, anti-body allergic response on the outter portion of their body, that however doesn't necessarily mean it does NOT also cause Neuro-inflammation in the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system)- of a documented Neuro-immune sick patient. It is an easy mistake for many to make since many consider it to be one and the same... The immune response has several layers and the immune response on the skin, throat, and airways is vastly different than the one in the brain and central nervous system. A 'typical' allergic reaction involves Mast cells releasing histamine, while an immune response in the central nervous system involves glial cells that release pro-inflammatory cytokines causing inflammation and slight swelling and brain dysfunction as a result. So in essence I am trying to put together a list of things I have found to be Neuro-Immune NEUTRAL... and not adding to the problem. I would love to learn more about your symptoms and trouble in detail Kristy. Thanks so much! - > > > > Hi Javan, > > > > Can you tell me how you " feel " or react to these chemicals? Guest guest
Most organic cleaners are. Things that say organic and then say fragrance added are not safe for people with chemical sensitives. Some can't handle the smells of essential oils. When I first realized that my daughter was chemically sensitive I ran out and bought all these " green " products. I quickly noticed that my daughter reacted the same way to these products. I have since made the switch to all natural products. I now clean with vinegar, baking soda, Borax, and lemon juice and my daughter isn't as nervous, she isn't acting out, she doesn't throw things anymore, she is not having tantrums. Instead she is working on goals appropriate for her age, she is following 5-6 step directions, she went to the football game with me last night and watched the game and the cheerleaders though her monocular and she was focused the entire time. Let me add that even trace amounts of soy causes reactions that last several days! When I say several I mean 3-5 days. At first making the changes were difficult but once I began to see the improvements I knew that I was onto something. I had no clue how significant it was going to be. I do think that having been on the protocol has helped and without doing that too we may not be where we are now but I can tell all of you without a doubt that had I not taken care of allergens and the chemicals would not be where she is today and that is a very good place. is wonderful but it isn't everything for every child. Guest guest
We started them and it wasn't dosed correctly so we have to go back and work on the dose. Since the doctor is in Ohio I think that it will have to wait until November or even December. I did consider making a day trip by myself but that is 7 hours each way and then 3-4 hours at the doctors. I figure that I will just wait because soon my husband will be home from Iraq and things won't be as complicated. I found shampoo's and soaps. We do not do serotonin but we did histamine for about 10 months and she is fine without it now. Molds are huge for her but she is not longer sensitive to dog or cat. YEA! My allergist told me that if she is taking drops she needs to be exposed to the offending foods for them to work. is fine with soy lecithin and soy oils it seems to only be the protein. As for doing well remember that she had 3 years of under her belt before doing this so yeast was in a good place (gone) and viral loads are much lower than before. As I said I think that is very important. I wish that you could have heard the difference in the comments that were made at 's IEP. People no longer comment on what is wrong with 's behaviors they are now looking for what is causing her reactions. I have turned a room full of non-believers into believers with the transformation of my child. Allergy treatment and control are HUGE! Oh and btw the chemicals in traditional allergy shots are the very thing that many chemically affected people have reactions to. Then there are the nasal spays and lets not forget antihistamines, cough syrup and the list goes on. My daughter reacted to all of these things but I was shoving them up her nose and down her throat to " make her better " because that is what needs to be done. WRONG! I now know better. Heck my daughter reacted to having her hair washed. She acted like she was on fire when I washed her hair. I could pour water over her head for hours but add one drop of soap and watch her literally climb the walls of our shower. I switched to natural shampoo and was calm from the first shampooing. My husband said that it was psychosomatic and so I waited until we were out of natural shampoo and I put regular shampoo in the bottle and asked my husband to wash her hair. I did not tell him what I did until came out of her skin and Ed said see I told you...I then informed him that he was using regular shampoo and if he didn't believe me smell it. He did and told me to get another bottle of that natural stuff and don't run out ever. He is now a believer. He even told me that he would switch to whatever products necessary when he gets home. Heck I am still learning and testing theories. It is so hard when your child doesn't talk and can't tell you instead I watch and wait to see reactions. I do have an appointment with the cranial facial team in just a few weeks. I pray that they can fix her tongue because everyone now believes that it is her tongue keeping her from talking. Sheri From: <jlhank80@...> Subject: Re: Mounting research is finding a VERY strong link to Autism..... Date: Saturday, September 26, 2009, 11:21 PM Sheri, Does do extracts for soy? Or foods for that matter? We are doing them and they help ALOT. But I am still wondering I should still cut out soy altogether. Also, are you doing histamine and serotonin? Your daughter is doing so well, and we are still working out the " bugs " with mine... Also, if you want some good shampoos and conditioners without essential oils and safe for chemically sensitive people(really really hard to find!) we use www.magickbotanical s.com. Guest guest
Simple Green makes my eyes water, my head hurt, and my chest tighten & wheeze. Walking down the cleaning products aisle at the grocery store does the same thing. I have a 7 y.o. son dx'd with autism. He fits the profile. The more I use natural products in our home, the more quickly I realize when something isn't natural. The more I use foods that are not processed with preservatives, additives, coloring, nitrites, etc. the more quickly I realize when foods have them. Don't even try to give me unfiltered water. Phew! Glad to know you're finding what works for you. Guest guest
You sound like you would benefit from an evaluation from an Environmental Allergist. The one that I take my daughter to is in Ohio so if you live near Ohio I will send you his number. He is not with the Board of Environmental Allergists but he is wonderful and less expensive than most. Date: Sunday, September 27, 2009, 11:57 AM Simple Green makes my eyes water, my head hurt, and my chest tighten & wheeze. Oh OK. That is great. Yeah I've had argued with family members over the Simple Green- them telling me it shouldn't bother me because it is all natural. It took me a long time to convince them it was making me VERY ill! Thanks so much for your input Kristy. Do you mind telling me what type of reactions you experience, and do you have a child with Autism? - > > > > > > Hi Javan, > > > > > > Can you tell me how you " feel " or react to these chemicals? Guest guest
The all purpose cleaner is Kirkland brand environmentally friendly all purpose cleaner. The laundry detergent is the free & clear. The last time they had a new one, lavender environmentally friendly that I bought but have not used yet. But I am also glad you too are finding things that work for you... and I have found the same to be true for me also, the more i avoid things that bother me the easier time I have identifying the items I can tolerate. BTW- do you know the exact name of those products you were talking about at COSTCO? I might check them out myself.
