Guest guest
Kendra I think someone asked you for some information? Such as which school do you attend? I don't recall seeing any response from you on this. I would be very grateful if you would post details. Many thanks, Celia ' [ ] Questions > Hi everyone, > I have some questions to ask if it is ok. I was wondering first of all, what the current laws are in the United States and the UK concerning receiving the MMR vaccination as 3 separate shots. I have read about doctors being reprimanded for offering the shots separately, but I believe that was in the UK. Do doctors in the US simply not have access to the vaccinations separately and/or is there a law keeping them from offering this option to parents? > Also, what kinds of laws are in place concerning vaccinations in order to be allowed in public schools. I know that there was a new one this year saying that you had to have the Hep B vaccination by a certain date to be attending school. Are there certain laws that keep children w/out MMR vaccine from attending schools and if so, how do parents handle these kinds of conflicts when choosing not to vaccinate their child? > Thank you very much, > Kendra > > > ----------------------------------- > Visit the Student Center Network at > http://www.studentcenter.org > > ======================================================= >

Guest guest
To put it simply (if that is possible), all states have different rules regarding immunizations and exemptions from immunizations. The single shots as compared to the multiple is available but not common and most (not all) doctors will hassle you if you ask for them. If you haven't been there this is a good site for just that info: www.thinktwice.com Tana > -----Original Message----- > From: Kendra888@... Guest guest
Celia, I don't recall seeing anyone requesting that information, but if I had I would have responded.. sorry about that! I am a sophomore at a high school in the United States. I'm sure that no one would wish me to disclose any more information about myself than that.. I also post on the #autism channel message board and the Autinet email list if that provides any more details about myself. Guest guest
Andy, I do not mean to be difficult or rude in any way. If this is really a huge issue, I will leave the list. I do not feel comfortable giving out personal information like what state I live in to people I have just met, let alone the town, or my last name.. it's not something that a teenager should be doing online. I know that many people do post this information about themselves but they don't have to worry about the same things that a kid does.. I am a frequenter user of the #autism channel and if you stop in any time of day, I am sure there will be someone there who will know who I am.. but if this is really a big issue, I don't wish to create a disturbance so I will leave the group. I hope you can understand that I simply can not give out that information to anyone... it is not safe. Guest guest
Renie: It is good to meet you. You do have a lot going on right now. I hope this board can give you some stress relief. We are here for you. If you really like your ped., they should refer you to a neurosurgen who will then refer you to the band company. If you are lucky, you might have a few offices near you for the band. My son is using the DOC band, but I'm sure Starband has a website with their offices listed. I would call all the offices and get a feel for the place. I am driving 2 1/2 hrs. one way instead of 30 minutes because I had a bad feeling about the local place. Ask if you can come by for a tour and speak with them (I know your time is limited, but in the long run, you may feel better) Good Luck and keep us updated. Guest guest
Renie, I'm glad you're still smiling! That is a great thing. It's really good that you're " doing your homework " about plagio and wanting a list of questions to ask! Here is a link just for that: http://www.cappskids.org/QuestionsForTheDoctorAndOrthotist.htm I'm going to send this link to your email too. Please keep us posted on Logan. > Thanks all for the replies. Guest guest
Hi, Welcome to the group. Yes, it is still possible for your son to reveivce correction should you band him. My baby was banded from the time she was 11 months and one week old until she was 22 months old. We saw correction in her " older " months. She received a lot of correction from her 3rd band. The bands do not hurt our babies, they aren't tight at all. They are very lightweight. The DOCband weighs about 6 oz. Most babies adjust very quickly to their bands. I never had a problem with my daughter trying to take her band off. I honestly think your pediatrician is wrong. Cranial Tech will not recommend banding if they don't think it will benefit the baby. If Cranial Tech told you they recommend you banding your son, then I really think you should do it. As for insurance, I can't help you out with that, my insurance comp wouldn't pay anything. Please keep us posted on your decision, good luck making it. --- In Plagiocephaly , " robertwfinke " <rfinke@o...> wrote: > We are considering banding our 18 month son who has a mild > flattening on his back right side. Guest guest
hello there! My son was banded from 12-19 months. He received his greatest amount of correction from months 16-17. Of course at this age the amount of correction will not be the same as if you had banded your son at an earlier age but I would expect some decent correction nonetheless. The bands are not tight so they don't cause headaches or anything. Insurance coverage really varies. My insurance paid 90% of 2 DOCbands without any hassle, unfortuately others have not had such luck. CT should be able to tell you what to expect, good luck! Guest guest
Hi & welcome to our group: Cranial Tech will band babies up til age 24 mos so long as the sutures are still open, which your son's are, so there is still time to receive correcton from the band. It's good that your son's plagio is mild. The amt of correction he'll receive is impossible to predict. Depends on growth spurts & such. Babies adapt to the band very well for the most part. Some do try to take the bands off, although believe it or not, that is uncommon (but not unheard of!). The DOCband is definitely not at all tight on the baby's head & is very lightweight (6 oz). The band is most definitely not at all painful to children. My daughter didn't like hats on top of her head, but she couldn't care less about her bands, I'll never understand that! LOL But I wasn't complaining! This is the first time I can remember hearing a pediatrician say not to get a band cuz the child will outgrow it..Yes, some babies do outgrow their band, then they get a new one fitted for them. Some do need 2nd or even 3rd bands as their heads grow, but in your son's older age 18 mos, his head growth has slowed significantly and will more than likely require just one band. What ins. do you have? Some insurance companies cover bands, some don't, some do on appeal. Good luck w/your difficult decision, keep us posted on whatever you do. Guest guest
Welcome to the group. I believe correction can still occurr since the stutures are still open. My daughter was banded at 9 months and the ban never bothered her. We had a head remolding exclusion in our insurance so the band wasn't covered. Many people have changed Drs to find a band family Dr. Keep us updated. Angie and Jenna(STAR band grad) Questions We are considering banding our 18 month son who has a mild flattening on his back right side. We brought him to CT in Clinton CT and were told that there was a chance that it could be corrected somewhat. We had x-rays taken and learned that his skull sutures are still open.Questions:How will he react to the band? Is he constantly going to be attempting to rip this off his head? Is it tight? Painful? He's a pretty rambunctious little guy and we can barely keep mittens on him. What are the issues with insurance coverage?Does anyone know what kind of chances an 18 month has for correction? Our pediatrician does not think that banding is necessary for our son and that he will grow out of it (that's why we waited this long). Are we crazy? For more plagio info

Guest guest
Hi there I'm glad your daughter is sleeping better, that's great news. I can't answer all your questions, but the one I can quickly help with is no, you don't need to keep repoing now, so you can relax as the helmet is doing all the hard work! Guest guest
Hi , To answer your questions: The Hanger band is an active band just like the DOC and STAR bands. No, you don't have to repo her now that she's banded. I don't think plagio is cosmetic in any case. Yes, gauging progress by eye is very common! Measurments are usually only taken if it's required by the insurance company. Some insurance companies will cover a second band as it's considered a continuation of treatment. --- In Plagiocephaly , " goldnvalli " <goldnvalli@a...> wrote: > > I have some questions. > > While reading the board I have come up with some questions. > Hopefully someone can help me answer them. > > My daughter has a hanger helmet. Guest guest
Thanks Girls, don't get me wrong I do feel better, but never can I just have a lazy day....it makes me feel awful. All these things people say take, milk thistle x, fish oil, etc....how much stuff can you take together and how much is to much ? It scares me. Doctors can't advice on this since it's natural and vitamins. Thanks
Guest guest
Oh, yeah, , it sounds very familiar. It helps to get up and stretch often and get your circulation going. It's probably very sluggish. There are things you can do throughout the day to stimulate it-- moving around a little every hour, getting some exercise, hot showers, eating GARLIC and small amounts of hot chilies, getting massages (from your hubby!). I find exercise is essential. It'll get better~ Bindi Questions As you all know I had my saline implants removed about 5 months ago and I am feeling a lot better, but I have bad days for no reason at all, and also everytime I try and lay around or sit around for more than 2 hours at a time watching a movie with my husband my neck and across my shoulders get so stiff, it's almost as though my shoulders don't like touching the back of the couch.
