Guest guest
Hello all I just wanted to mention that tonight for the first time since xmas I had to take an atenolol. I went back into AF after tea (no additives - just a home made stir fry) and no matter what I did it would not go away. I started to get quite frightened as I nearly passed out on numerous occasions. And I am now on my own with the kids. I did not want to frighten them. I was so dizzy. At one point I ended up with my head between my knees and my eyesight went blank. There was nothing else for it but to take 25mg. IT took an age to kick in and I started thinking about the posts about calling an ambulance. Then suddenly I converted. Oh it feels so good. Thank goodness for the antenolol. I will keep one in my pocket from now on. Only to be taken on such occasions. Fran
Guest guest
Oh my Fran....you are having a difficult time of it. I think back to early 2000 when I was going through the exact same thing. Its a lousy feeling and being alone is so frightening. I drove myself to the hospital many many times in the middle of the night......what an idiot I was. With the dizziness, I certainly put other drivers in danger. I called a neighbor on one occasion and then I felt just horrible because he had no choice but to wait it out in the hospital practically all night - and then had to go to work the next day. I made so many trips to the Emergency Room, I think my daughters were *sick* of me....and I really couldn't blame them. I finally realized that I could wait it out at home - so I would just go to bed with my ries and pray that it would pass - or at least that I be taken to heaven <g>!! My ries got a workout that year! You just might want to stay away from Tea. I was a Tea drinker - and I had a feeling that Tea (any kind of tea), triggered Afib with me back then. I couldn't be asbolutely sure...I just had that feeling. With Dofetilide, I have been in NSR now for sixteen (16) months and I still stay away from Tea, Coffee, Carbonated drinks. Until my introduction to Juiceman, I drank water and only water. On special ocassions, I had water with lemon and sometimes lime <g>!! Hang in there Fran......I divorced an abusive husband over twenty years ago - and even with my three diseases (what an awful word); Afib, Osteoporosis and Reflux, my life since then has been wonderful. Guest guest
ITs funny but I have drastically cut down my coffee, which I have never noticed as a trigger, but realised a lot of instant coffee in the UK had aspartame included. So I went on to the real stuff. But can only be bothered to make one bodem a day. That supplies two mugs. Without it I can't move in the morning. It also helps put my BP up. I was never a tea drinker, but yesterday I had three mugs. It may only be coincidence but the thought that the tea was involved to some degree came to my mind a couple of times, but I threw it out. I need to experiment. Thanks for reinforcing it and thanks for your kind words. Take care Fran > (snip) I just wanted to mention that tonight for the first time since > xmas I had to take an atenolol. Guest guest
Dear Fran, If I drink decaffeinated coffee or tea, the small amount of caffeine remaining is enough to trigger afib. I've never had a problem with herbal teas but would imagine it depends upon the herbs one uses. I'm a particular fan of ginger and mint tea--not even a trace of caffeine in these.
