Guest guest
For me Estrogen leaves pretty quickly. I’m curious, do you do blood levels while on the WP? Even with mass quantiaties that I used, I only had one reading over 200 on a day 12 draw. Liz Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to detoxing/ clear the high levels of estrogen that we have taken on WP? Thank you http://liz-vernand.artistwebsites.com http://fineartamerica.com/shop/liz-vernand.html
Guest guest
It seems to me that slowly lowering the estrogen levels is important so that you don't shock your body, but that it leaves pretty quickly. However, I think the bigger question is how do you detox/clear the high levels WP progesterone without harm to the body? I'm also wondering if anyone has slowly dropped the WP estrogen amount and stopped the WP progesterone completely and 1) still had a period ? and 2) didn't have any problems or if they did what were they?Sheree To: rhythmicliving Sent: Mon, May 23, 2011 5:54:50 PMSubject: Re: Detoxing from Estrogen For me Estrogen leaves pretty quickly. The system was in shock and my body was compensating. Normal testing does not apply to these astronomical levels of hormones!!!! LaurelFor me Estrogen leaves pretty quickly. Guest guest
Hi Laurel, Liz and Sheree... I had the same exact thing. Low results on serum blood tests but astronomically high results on saliva tests. I made the mistakes (didn’t even think about it) that when I did the saliva tests, I was only off the WP for 9 days. did you ladies ever bleed on the WP? I never got the return of the period. Even when contemplating about using the WP, this was one thing I was not thrilled about, getting a period again, UGH....that was one good thing about being in menopause....no more bleeding and using pads. do you girls still menstruate or are you menopausal? I haven’t had a period since 2007 (naturally) Strange I find it that serum levels are so low and saliva is so high, why? I too get .5 on the serum and levels of 1395 of Progesterone on saliva. Over 500+ on estradiol on saliva and only 62 (December level before WP) and 38 now, a month off of WP. I don’t understand it all. All I know it screwed up my entire endocrine system. I have now stopped ALL hormones to give my body a real rest from the damage the WP did to me. I told my gyno and he said go with my gut feelings. I am going to start to use phosphatidylserine to try to lower cortisol levels along with Vitamin C. I also take magnesium Taurate, Vitamin D and Omega Fish Oil. I try to eat healthy, but because I don’t feel well most of the time, it’s hard to get out to do any moving of these old bones. It has not stopped raining here in the Northeast (New York) and hasn’t been conducive in getting out. Has the WP affected your endocrine systems? what repercussions has it caused you? Okay, its been a very long day of suffering, so I bid you all a good night..... Be well, Nanci
Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your responses. Ive decided (in consultation with my doctor) to just stopped the WP cold turket. I was finally honest with her and said that I hate it and what I thought it was doing to me. I even printed out Laurel's interview with Dr Formby and I took Dr Vilet's book (It's my Ovaries stupid) with highlighted bits for her to read! Would you believe I was so scared to tell her I was hating the WP because she was also on it. Then she told me she is also having problems with it, and Im thinking FAR OUT I should have said something 8 months ago!!!!!!!!!! And, if she was having problems.why did she put me on it?!!?! Anyways, because I had reduced my progesterone (to 20mg) several months ago, Im taking a leap of faith and stopping everything! My hope/ dream is that I might start cycling again because I was before I went on to WP, just with very very low estrogen. From what im reading blood tests might not be a good indicator of what's going on?? Might just need to go on how Im feeling. JO > > Hi Laurel, Liz and Sheree... > > I had the same exact thing. Guest guest
Nanci, In an earlier message you said: " The extreme dosing left my adrenals shot and possibly thyroid too with high levels of T3 and messed up free T4 and other thyroid levels. " So, was this the FREE T3 that was tested, or the plain T3? Free T3 is the unbound free and available-for-use amount of t3. You mentioned going on phosphatidylserine to lower your cortisol. eh? Um, yes, your cortisols are higher later in the day, but they are also low in the morning/afternoon (if I remember correctly). Phosphatidylserine will lower your total 24 hour amount of cortisol, including in the morning/afternoon. Uh-oh. Plus, your adrenals have been wacked by that WP tons-o-progesterone. Uh-oh, again. Perhaps supporting adrenals might be something to strongly consider instead. Seriously, read the archives...maybe also some of my messages. Why do the blood and saliva tests show such extreme differences? Blood = what's circulating in the blood. Saliva = what's in tissue (so that's where all that progesterone went). Capillary blood generally tests similar to saliva. Just wondering...if testing by both saliva and adrenal, perhaps that's a way to monitor what amount of progesterone is still in stored in tissue and what's being released into the blood stream. Perhaps that might give a wider view. ? Sam ===== > Hi Laurel, Liz and Sheree... > > I had the same exact thing. Low results on serum blood tests but > astronomically high results on saliva tests. Guest guest
Hi Nanci, I'm 61 and stopped my periods at 50. When I started the WP protocol almost 2 years ago I started spotting the first two months and then had a full period until I started to lower my levels two months ago. I cut my E from E+6 to E+3 and only used about six lines total of P the last half. I spotted for about 5 days. Then I went to see Dr. Schwarzbein in Santa Barbara. She told me to just static dose 7 lines morning and night and then start 1/2 line of P morning and night on days through 18 -28. However I started reacting to the P right away on day 20, so she is having me use 6 lines E morning and night and stopping the P. I haven't had any blood and saliva tests done since seeing her. She wants to lower the useage first. She thinks I might have had adrenal failure when I started WP so she is monitoring this. I just asked her the question about stored P in my body from WP and am waiting for an answer. Guest guest
Hi Nanci, I hope today finds you feeling a bit better. I had a complete hyst in 1999 when I was 39. I wish I had never read the book and gone with my gut when I couldn’t find anything in there relating to women who had a hyst except for one line. I have been struggling along since 2004 when the shit hit the fan for me with my Estrogen use. I’ve tried patches, creams, gels. I am going to call my dr today and chat about oral and see if that will help. Did you check your FSH while on the WP? I did not and wished that I had. I check it now and it’s always high but I suppose it should be with my E level at 59. I use 6-8 mg of E cream daily and still my blood is low. Hang in there! You will get stable again. Guest guest
The best estrogen I ever found was Aerodiol, which was a nasal spray. Zero side effects (for me), and banished brain fog like nothing else. The German company that made it discontinued it several years ago, I suppose because it never caught on. It was great stuff and I keep checking to see if they have brought it back. No luck so far. Gael Hi Nanci,I hope today finds you feeling a bit better. I had a complete hyst in 1999 when I was 39. Guest guest
Hi Sheree, I've been reading your posts and it seems we have been on Wiley about the same length of time and have decided to go off about the same time. I have been wondering about how to taper the Progesterone too. How do you feel when you apply the P? It didn't seem to bother me before in an obvious way. Last fall I expressed my concerns about decreased libido, hair loss, change in hair texture, and weight gain despite exercising and eating well. His answer was my ovaries were probably making some E, but had finally given up and we now needed to add more E. I went to W+2 and keep the P the same. Nothing got better...six months later when voicing the same complaints he said it might be time to add growth hormone. At that point, I told him "no way I will ever do that" and started researching. I found the site (thank you Laurel) and have been reading ever since. Surprise, surprise, all those symptoms are from too much P! I have cut back the E to W+1 and cut the P back dramatically. I took it in a cyclic fashion and went from 1 line to 5 lines and back down again to 1 line on Days 14 to 28. I have done this for two months. In the last cycle, I had a period and noticed that the days I was on P, I felt moody and sad and couldn't remember simple things that I did 5 minutes ago. I was just out of sorts. I am now on Day 2 of the new cycle and feel back to normal again. I, too, worry about continuing to apply the P, but I don't want it to to "pour out of my tissues" like Laurel describes when she quit applying it. Yet applying more doesn't seem to be a good choice either unless continuing to apply a small amount prevents that surge and still allows you to use up the tissue storage...I am looking forward to hear your answer from Dr. Schwarzbein. I plan to only apply 1 line of P on Day 14 to 28 this cycle, which is only 20 mg (100mg is what is in the oral dose of Prometrium and 20 mg is all Dr. Formby recommends applying transdermally). I worry about using "unopposed" estrogen as many feel that is unhealthy and increased your cancer risk. I am seeing an endocrinologist in a week or so. The FP I saw last month who specializes in bioidentical hormones had no clue what to do and thought what I was doing was a good plan. It is ironic that we are just left to figure out what to do on our own and that those who "prescribe" it are useless when it comes to helping us discontinue it without a negative impact to our bodies. Guest guest
Thanks for writing. I just talked to Dr. Schwarzbein yesterday, May 30, on the phone. She wants me to lower the E as fast and as safely as necessary so she can put me on a patch at a small dose and a different progesterone. I'm not sure what this will be yet. I am now taking 4 lines of WP E morning and night. She isn't too concerned about the absence of P right now and believes that the lower the body fat the less of it gets caught in the tissues. At this point I'm choosing to trust her and trying to be very aware of my body. Laurel, had said that P makes things loose. I'm thinking this might be true. With low doses of P I was still having some uterus prolapse and lots of vaginal wetness. Now that I'm off P I'm still very vaginally wet which makes me think I might be eliminating some. When I lowered the E to 5 lines, then 4 lines I have started to get some vulva burning and uncomfortableness and I'm pretty sure this is because of progesterone. P is one of the things that the Vulva Foundation has found to cause vulva burning and itching. This period of changing will probably be scary and at times hard but I am so hopeful that I will be healed and better off before I ever started WP because she will be teaching me to heal my whole body and have it function properly. Her book "The Schwarzbein Principle II, The Transition, reallly explains this beautifully.
