Guest guest
I can't imagine that the amount of estriol that you would use on your face would be enough to cause concern (if there is cause for concern?) but I discovered that it's not necessarily all that "safe" if you are planning on using it as part of your actual daily hormone therapy. I understand that most of the posts under this subject are about facial application. But for those who are considering estriol for actual hormone therapy, be sure to educate yourself. http://www.yourmenopausetype.com/menopausequestionsandanswers/04232000.html I found this link .. right off the bat. A former doc of mine prescribed estriol for me a year and a half ago. I tried it and didn't like it. I happened to read my Vliet book and it does mention in her book that for estriol to give you the same advantages that you would receive from estradiol, you would need to use "a lot" of the estriol. (I think it mentions this in the link above too?) A lot of estriol is not necessarily a good thing. In this whole hormone web that we have to navigate through .. we, as women, have to make many decisions as to what the lesser of those evils are. Just thought I'd caution anyone that does not have the low down on this type of estrogen .. and may be thinking about jumping on the estriol bandwagon. Guest guest
Hi Glo, As I noted in an earlier post, lots of women use estriol as part of bioidentical bi-est or tri-est creams/gels in ‘normal’ doses with good success. This is Dr. Reiss’ preferred estrogen combination and he is certainly an expert. In fact, Dr. Reiss doesn’t particularly like estradiol on it’s own because he feels it’s missing many benefits and can be over-used. However, it’s what I am doing with him because it works for me. I wouldn’t hesitate to change if it didn’t. The other reason I respect Dr. Reiss is because when I see him (once a year) he always asks me what it would take for me to ‘feel great’. Not just good, or getting by, but great. That is an important differentiation from most doctors. And we always tweak things based on my feedback. I agree, we have to navigate through it all and choose our paths. I feel lucky that there are a few doctors at least who really get it, because that seems to be the most damaging problem at all. I read in newspapers all the time blatantly factually wrong articles about using hormones and the dangers of ‘estrogen’ therapy quoted by doctors or other ancillary medical personnel. Uninformed, unresearched and quoting old sources.
