The group doesn't have the huge number of active post WP members as it did in

the past. As well, after people get past the difficulty they only check back in

once in awhile. One option is to comb through the archives. Wilddingo is a

name to search for in the archives as she posted a lot about here experience of

getting off. The start of the group archives (April 05) is when the largest

number of members were getting off at the same time. The rest of the people

arrived over time so it's scattered after the initial group.

There are many different stories about how everyone got off the WP. Some simply

stopped everything at once, others tapered down, and then for many of us it

wasn't easy or orderly. In my case I couldn't put on any more P or I got sick .

Initially I managed to lower my E rather quickly down to 3 mg a day when I

stopped the P, but after a few weeks of not using any it appears the P depot

that was sitting in the skin of my inner thighs started coming breaking up and

seeping into my blood stream in huge amounts. The symptoms were horrible and

scary and after talking to Dr. Formby and my previous doctor in Texas I came up

with a solution of using a lot of E to smash down the P the would surge out of

my tissues. IT meant I ended up using a lot of E.... some horrible days I was

up to 64 mg of E.

For awhile my daily dose was about 20 mg, at some point it went to 16mg, then

14mg, and recently I switched from compounded E to gel and now I use 1.75mg/day

of E gel when I'm only on the E, and when it's time to use Prometrium (best one

for me right now) I find I have to increase my E to a daily total of 2mg. It

took me years to get down to that. Some people manage to go cold turkey off the

WP and some manage to taper. There is no clear path.

I suggest you comb through this article with a pen and really take in what Bent

Formby is saying. http://rhythmicliving.org/?page_id=87 From my conversations

with him and our experience it seems estrogen clears out faster, but P takes

longer.

I have been on Wiley for two years. About six months ago serum estrogen levels

were low, along with increased weight gain, all belly and hips, increased hair

shedding, and decreased libido. All of course attributed to the final natural

estrogen production shutting off. I was told to increase the estrogen and

symptoms of course are worse. Called the " dr " that prescribed about how to

stop/taper/discontinue. He has not called back. Went on the web and found your

site. So for those of you who did it, I'm not feeling toxic, I just think all

these effects are due to the hormones. How did you get off of it? I have

decreased the WP estrogen (W + 1) by half and am applying bid and am cycling

the progesterone as well beginning with only 20mg (one line) and going up to

100mg (5 lines) and back down to 20mg over the 14 days. Next month I will cut

the estrogen dose in half again (so it will be 1/4 of the usual dose. I saw a

physician today who prescribes bioidentical hormones and she really hasn't done

this before. She said what I am doing sounded good. Just wondering what the

rest of you did and what products and dosages you are on now, if any. Thanks.

Chris

Dear Laurel, Thank you for your reply. You are right, everyone is different and from talking to many people, I see there really is no exact way to do this. It does help to know, how you did it and I'm sorry you felt so bad while tapering and that it took so long. Thank you for the other leads...I will be sure to check them out.
