Guest guest
hi marilyn, thanx for the input and hope. erika used to have the tracheal malesia,/broncomalesia, now the ONLY reason we can not decannulate is b/c they say she cannot swallow, its a catch 22. we have been to 3 ENT's including dr. cotton, they want her capped for 24 hrs/day several days before we decannulate., i have heard that other drs. do not require this. we are tempted to do it at home. it is more difficulte to cap the trach and breath b/c thje trach is blocking 80% of the airway! i al going to write all this up and go see her ENT again and tell him all the stories i hear about better swallowing after trach is out etc. thanx cathie, mom to erika
