Porcine thyroid doesn't contribute to insulin resistance. It's the lack of

" properly " testing/treating adrenal issues, low ferritin/iron, thyroid,

etc that can cause insulin " resistence " . Also, it's a well known fact,

that synthetic thyroid drugs can negatively impact sex hormones

(increasing SHBG, for example). So, if Schwarzbein is still anti porcine

thyroid, I won't be recommending her.

Hi beth:

I was thinking of doing a phone consult with Schwarzbein..I have been a very

complex pt and I like much of what she has to see (bought both Schwarzbein

Principle I and II)..However, she does NOT like porcine thyroid..believes

this contributes to insulin resistance. However, T4 meds cause my Hashis

antibodies to rise and I get major Reverse T3..Do you know if she still

feels the same re: Armour/ERFA/etc?

Liz, I am not on top of the way to measure RT3 exactly. It shows up in my bloodwork as RT3 and then there is a ratio of T3/RT3 that the RT3 yahoo group uses to determine the degree of RT3. With the short half life of T3 after a month it's out of your system and you're on your own so sounds like things are going smoothly.Great !Janet To: rhythmicliving From: wliz@...Date: Mon, 29 Aug 2011 23:07:25 +0000Subject: ? So we measure total T3 to see how the RT3 is affecting things? I do have RT3 tendencies. I am off all but a teeny dose of cytomel (5 mcg down from 90) now in hopes that I can sort of re-set my system. Its been a month now. We'll see how it goes...

Yeah, I have been doing the RT3 ratio, too from the RT3 group. It's all very

confusing-the Rt3 stuff

I'm not sure if I am doing so great off the cytomel! My Ft3 and Ft 4 are both

low and TSH is high-normal. That said, T4 is higher than it was before, so I

think my thyroid is working, but it is building back up very slowly. I am

feeling hypo for sure. Puffy face, dry skin, tired, etc. But it is getting

better a little every week. I am going to try and hold out another couple of

weeks, the re-test, see where I'm at. Ugh. Too bad I have to, you know, do

stuff.
