Guest guest
Do it - we all did. Its not the flu that kills, it's the pneumonia, and it lasts _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of meljackmom Sent: Friday, October 02, 2009 2:16 PM Subject: Questions about Flu and Pneumonia shots Is anyone out there being proactive about getting the pneumonia shot for themselves and family members? I know DR G mentioned it to me as a good precaution to do so for the whole family. I stopped by my family physician to get one, and they told me I was not in the recommended category of needeing a pneumonia, and sent me on my way! OK, anyone else (parent of a kid, I'm 48) getting a pneumonia shot? My son (age 9) had one at an earleir age, and my husband is Type 1 diabetic had one about 5 years ago. This sounds like a good idea to me! And I did not know if I should ignore my doctor's office and go to the shot clinic!
Guest guest
Thanks for the reply. I even called the office yesterday to make sure I understood Dr G correctly and the girls said " yes, get it. " I appreciate hearing that you did do this and especially with the shortages of flu vaccinnes being reported! > > Do it - we all did. > > > > Its not the flu that kills, it's the pneumonia, and it lasts > > > > _____ > > From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of > meljackmom > Sent: Friday, October 02, 2009 2:16 PM > > Subject: Questions about Flu and Pneumonia shots > > > > > > Is anyone out there being proactive about getting the pneumonia shot for > themselves and family members? Guest guest
I have a bit of a qualm about this. First of all who knows how our kids' immune systems will react to this? Things are going to well for my daughter right now, I am way too afraid to mess things up. My daughter reacted horribly to her vaccines when she was a baby! #2 I asked my daughter's doctor about what he thought about giving our child the pneumonia vaccine and he said " what about the 79 other bacterium responsible for pneumonia resulting from the flu?? The vaccine is for only one. " Not that I know what people should do on here, I am just stating the other side. Just food for thought for my buddies - > > Do it - we all did. Guest guest
I understand where is coming from. I have to call Dr. Goldberg's office and ask if it is necessary to give my son the pneumonia vaccine if he is already taking gamma globulin shots every 3 weeks (immunoglobulin replacement therapy). I would imagine that the immunoglobulin would protect my son against viral infections and pneumonia. JR From: jlhank80@... Guest guest
Hi , I looked back and Nids son actually had the Prevnar vaccine when he was a toddler, so before we even knew he had an immune problem. If I am not mistaken, he had the Prvnar 7 which protects against 7 bacterias. The one I was actually wondering about was for say me, or my spouse, or my teen daughter, and looking at protecting us against these bacteria. I think they give the Prevnar 23 to adults. > > > > Do it - we all did. > > > > > > > > Its not the flu that kills, it's the pneumonia, and it lasts > > > > > > > > _____ > > > > From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of > > meljackmom > > Sent: Friday, October 02, 2009 2:16 PM > > > > Subject: Questions about Flu and Pneumonia shots > > > > > > > > > > > > Is anyone out there being proactive about getting the pneumonia shot for > > themselves and family members?
