Questions about Flu and Pneumonia shots

Is anyone out there being proactive about getting the pneumonia shot for

themselves and family members? I know DR G mentioned it to me as a good

precaution to do so for the whole family.

I stopped by my family physician to get one, and they told me I was not in the

recommended category of needeing a pneumonia, and sent me on my way! OK, anyone

else (parent of a kid, I'm 48) getting a pneumonia shot? My son (age 9)

had one at an earleir age, and my husband is Type 1 diabetic had one about 5

years ago. This sounds like a good idea to me! And I did not know if I should

ignore my doctor's office and go to the shot clinic!
