I take toprol xl at 37.5 mg a day. No question but that it

suppresses a lot of extra beats. But it makes me lethargic, unable

to exercise much, somewhat short of breath, and depressed. It also

has caused some thinning of my hair. The doc says the hair thinning

would reverse if I stopped the med, but I didn't ask if it became

premanent after some time on the drug. (I'm female). I believe

toprol xl is an extended release form of metaprolol.
