, When you gave birth to your 2nd son, did you have any heavy bleeding? That can throw your whole axis off hormonally. It sounds to me looking at your labs that you were high in E, not low..usually that late in your cycle E starts to drop a little. Actually, all your levels looked good, except for Thyroid..that looked low. Thyroid is a major hormone, and when lacking your adrenals suffer, and then one can have problems with allergies and other auto-immune diseases. You can get Bio-Identical Thyroid replacement. Most Drs do not understand Thyroid replacement, nor testing Thyroid levels even. Testosterone helps the adrenals..but you should only replace what you're

low, or missing. I think Thyroid is THE hardest to get help with because Drs just look at the HUGE, OLD referrance range..too outdated IMHO.TerriTo: rhythmicliving Sent: Friday, October 21, 2011 1:47 PMSubject: New here - looking for some

direction

Hello Group,

My name is I am new here and looking for some direction. My most recent sex hormone labs showed that I am low and T and E. I will be able to access compounded E, P (if/when needed)and T.

Brief medical history. Started to get sick around the age of 24, four years later it was diagnosed as Hashimoto's, 6 months after the birth of my second son, that would have been in Feb 2001. By spring of 2002 I was hospitalized and diagnosed with 2 more autoimmune diseases.

Many very sick years later, about 2009 I got the root of the problem, extremely low iron, synthetic T4 thyroid meds, and bad adrenals. It's taken a few years (why does it take so long, we need more cooperative doctors!) my low iron was fixed with IV iron, started on hydrocortisone 19 weeks ago and have been on T3 for 1 year now to get rid of reverse T3 and looking forward to switching back to desiccated thyroid soon.

So a couple of questions.

How long does it take for T to start working? I just started applying it to the back of my knees. I can't be entirely sure but I think I started sleeping better since starting.

I am interested in rhythmic dosing and until I get compounded E I have EstroGel 0.06% - usual recommended dose is 2.5g daily. Each metered actuation delivers 1.25 g of gel. This is day 29 of my cycle and wanted to wait to start E on day 1 keeping to my natural cycle.

Based on my results I am pretty sure I don't need P at all (for now at least).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Cortef, hydrocortisone for adrenal fatigue

Hi Terri,

Thanks for replying. Yes I did bleed heavily, close to dying actually.

I am glad my low iron days are over!

I am not convinced that my E is high, my cycle currently is 30 to 31 days, it

has been for quite some time, and I look to some of my symptoms, dry eyes, dry

itchy skin, mild hot flashes, mild night sweats etc.

I didn't post my thyroid labs. And yes thyroid can be one of the hardest to get

help with. I suffered for many years starting at the age of 24, it took 4+ years

and almost going into a myxedema coma (its a loss of brain function as a result

of severe, longstanding low level of thyroid hormone) to get help for my low

thyroid. By bio-identical thyroid are you referring to Amour Thyroid/desiccated

thyroid? If you are than yes I am familiar with it. I am on T3 only because of a

reverse t3 issue and will be switching back to desiccated when the time is

right.

I do plan on starting E on day 1 of my cycle and would like some info/guidance

on rhythmic dosing of E.

, I'm listowner of the thyroidless group and I wanted to mention a

little about " treating " Rt3. Apart from the fact that RT3 fluctuates

naturally, there are quite a few other causes of increased RT3 besides

thyroid which do not require " treatment " with a synthetic t3 drug.

Synthetic thyroid drugs have their own set of issues and can increase

SHBG, so keep that in mind when trying to balance sex hormones.

Had you previously been on a good desiccated porcine thyroid such as Erfa

Thyroid or Naturethroid, or just reformulated Armour (which, in my opinion

and experience, was turned into crap)?

Sam

(porcine thyroid/BHRT dosed entirely by symptoms)

Hi Sam,

Yes I was on ERFA. In Oct.2009 I made the switch from synthroid/cytomel to erfa,

started low and worked my way up to 5 grains by Jan. 10. At the beginning of

2010 I weighed 185 lbs, by Feb/Mar without effort I started to loose weight, I

got down to about 145 lbs. I felt better than I had since forever, since before

getting sick at all. That lasted till about June, the doc didn't like my numbers

and started to cut back my meds and things started to go down hill. My FT4 was

mid range and my FT3 was just barely over normal. After he cut me back My FT4

went above mid range and my FT3 went a 2 points above normal. That's when it was

suggested to me that I had a RT3 problem that would have been in Sep/Oct 2010,

switched to T3 only at that time.

Its been nagging at me for a few weeks, just a gut feeling that I need to switch

back to desiccated.

Thanks for your input Sam, its very appreciated.
