Thank you so much for this, beth! I am trying to get in touch with a gyn here right now, but since we only just moved back to southern CA I don't know how I'll find one who can get me in right away. I'm going down a list. <g> And to complicate it further, I am leaving for the east coast for my mother in law's memorial service on Monday and won't be back until August 12. Forgive me if I said that in my other note. I'm a little frazzled by all this.

You are so thoughtful.

Gael...I forwarded your info to Dr. Schwarzbein. I know she's super busy getting ready for her presentation but hopefully she'll havve time to help you...hang tight...

And OMG...I can't believe they weren't going to tell you! What is with so many doctors these days?

Thank you, Janet, it does help to hear that someone else had one and it apparently wasn't anything terrible. I'm 59, and know that I shouldn't have cysts on the ovary at this age, and that is what scares me. Mine is about 5cm by 4. That sounds big to me. The CT report also said it had the "attenuation of water", and even though I have looked that up I don't really understand what it means.

I'm still in shock that no one at the hospital or at the surgeon who did the appendectomy office was going to alert me to this. The PA who saw me yesterday couldn't even find the CT report - it was in a stack of papers they had to rummage through when I insisted on having it!

Gael,I had a cyst, not sure of the type or what your particular type means. I've seen many patients (I'm an acupuncturist) with cysts and work out of an ob/gyn office. Ovarian cysts are fairly common. Mine disappeared a few months later. Sometimes they grow, sometimes they go and other times they can be problematic but, again, I can't speak to the size and type you have. Your GYN will have to advise you. I didn't like having one but if I wasn't having sonograms to check on my uterine lining I would never have known it existed. Hope this helpful.Janet

Attenuation means " gradually reducing " . So it could mean that the water

filled cyst or the water 'in' the cyst is gradually reducing?

That's my best guess, at any rate.

Sam

(who's also 59)
