One option for autoimmune folks is to dial down all grains, diary, NSADS, ....

take a listen here http://robbwolf.com/2011/02/22/the-paleo-solution-episode-68/

I'm iffy about referencing this stuff, but I have tried Matt Lalonde's ideas for

autoimmune and I'm feeling pretty good and am back to losing fat. Of course,

I'm n = 1 as they say so take that for not much.

Could be loads better to mess around with nutrition than be doing that much

cortef at 40. Are you working with a doc? You've got quite a cocktail there.

Search for bigbird in the archives and you'll see what she managed for herself

and her daughters working with a NYC doc. The ideas was to get off wheat,

optimize vit D (? is that right?), and calcium levels. Ovaries went back into

action.

Would be super cool to see you, so young there, managing to be off all " the

stuff " and working with a doc you trust.

autoimmune/CFS type issues. The estrogen helps a lot with my symptoms and makes

me feel much better in general. However, I cannot tolerate progesterone so I

don't take any. My periods are not extra heavy but every now and again they are

irregular and sometimes I do get spotting lately, although it usually seems to

happen when I change my thyroid med dose. I want to go to a gyn and see if I can

get a biopsy just to make sure everything is okay, but I am afraid to tell her

about taking the estrogen for autoimmune stuff. I have had docs treat me like a

crazy person for that in the past. This whole thing is freaking me out because

my sister just got diagnosed with cervical cancer (she is close to my age). I

know that cervical cancer is a whole different animal in that it is from a virus

and not with hormones, but it still make me worry that I am going to get cancer.

How should I handle all of this when I talk to a new gyn? I just feel like I

need to have someone check me once in a while for cancer while I am on this

stuff. Any advice?

Hi Laurel

Thanks for the advice. I have been off all grains for a while now, and I do find

it quite helpful. I also take apple cider vinegar and probiotics. I am working

with a naturopath but I feel like I need a gyn. to monitor my health as well,

which is what I am seeking now.
