Guest guest
Anyone familiar with this? I know it's in one of the adrenal pathways but not sure of the role and how it affects the bigger picture. I ask because a friend who is trying to conceive tested very high in 17 OH. She already has a 3 yr old boy. Was told by her GYN that this could be an indication of PCOS or of a genetic defect that, if she were to have a girl, would cause the gir's genitalia to be masculinized. Needless to say she's freaked out and being referred to a reproductive endocrinologist in town. I doubt that the repro endos around here have a clue about anything else but the procedures they offer, i.e., IUIs and IVFs. I know this is a menopausal list but thought someone here might be familiar with this. Her GYN suggested she may have to take prednisone before and during any pregnancy to prevent this.....that's heavy duty stuff. Any guidance or info is appreciated.
