Question about ovarian cyst

Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone here has ever been diagnosed with a mucinous cystadenoma of the ovary? My story on this is a bit complex, but here goes.

Last July, I had an emergency appendectomy. Per the CT scan done before the surgery (and which I was not told of but found out about later when I read the CT report), they saw a 6 by 5 cm cyst, "attenuation of water" on my left ovary. I went to my gyn and he thought it was a simple cyst, but had me go back in two months. Two months later it had separated into two sections, I think they call that loculated. I went back in four months, this week, and it was no longer a simple cyst, but now a multi-loculated mucinous looking cyst. I had a lot of labwork and go back in three weeks. The bottom line is that the ovaries will have to be removed, and of course there is always the chance of it being something really scary.

Has anyone else ever had one of these, and come out OK? Does anyone have any encouragement?

I would be so grateful to hear from anyone!

Gael
