Hi Lee, I have experience with WP..most would say that I'm not on it now..I do use Wiley's "E" cream, and I am on a high dose(my BASE line is 8mg of 2mg per line) 2 X a day)but it was Wiley's "P" cream that did me in! I now use an oral "P"(Prometrium)of 200mgs 1 X a day for 10-12 days a month, have a normal "period", and feel great. My blood serum levels are good. In my most HUMBLE opinion, your headaches are due to LOW Estrogen..so going down in dosage maybe what is causing the headaches. BTW, one of the many bad symptoms I had using WP's "P" cream was symptoms of a UTI, but NO infection! This stopped when I got off of it, and used the oral "P". Prometrium is also a

Bio-Identical form of Progesterone..I'm just not overdosing on "P"anymore because it is oral, so the body utilizes less. You will hear some scary stories here, it is hard to know fact from fiction..but one thing I know for sure..everyone's BODY is different..what works for one, may not work for another. BTW, I am 52, and in very good health. Glad to hear you have a Dr that cares!Best,Terri From: leebroadhurst

Hi I am from Australia and I started on the WP 4 months ago at the suggestion of my GP after 18months of night sweats, insomnia, acne and uti's. I started on 1/4 dose then 1/2 dose and have been doing full doseage for the last 2 months. No more sweats, insomnia or uti's, but still skin problems and a new symptom of very severe headaches - lasting up to a couple of days and some days of noticeable irritability and brain fade and fuzziness. Was a migraine sufferer for many years but in my 40's would experience only the migraine aura and a very light headache. Went back to my practitioner (she uses WP herself and a great fan of it) and she suggested the headaches may be due to liver malfunction so started me on some herbs to assist with this. She also recommended I do blood tests to check hormone levels but not until I have been on the full protocol another month (3 months full WP). I did a search online as concerned about these side effects and

found your site. I am 53 and in good health (have had partial thyroidectomy due to tumour 13yrs ago)but manage my health and lifestyle well. Am not sure whether to continue on these hormones - have reduced my intake to 1/2 dose after reading some of the stories of people on this site. Any suggestions?

Thank you - Lee

Read this website, written by the owner of this list. There is no

scientific basis for Wiley and most women on this list have found it a very

negative experience.

Yes, no scientific support for those doses AT ALL. Nada.

Find a new doc. STAT. If they don't understand it's crazy, you are not in good

hands.

I've gotten past the WP dosing now and .5 a mg of E is now too much for me.

There was a time when I could slam 60mg a day just to keep on top of the wave.

Less is beter. Tiny wee. If you need mega dosing then start scrambling to sort

out why.

Find a doc that 'gets it " and will help you transition to physiologic doing.

Laurel, I'm confused..what happened to you that you could no longer handle "E"? I can totally understand the "P" problems. I believe everyone has different "physiologic doses"..that's what makes us all unique. It is not natural to wither away and end up with a crapped out thyroid, pancreas, heart, bones, brain, etc! Loss of sex hormones most definately affects our health..and not in a good way. Besides, you only replace what you are missing.Terri To: rhythmicliving Sent: Sunday, December 4, 2011 7:10 PM Subject: Re: New to WP

Thanks for sharing your experience Terri. Its kind of confusing to know what to do. I think I will hunt around for a new doctor experienced in menopausal symptoms to talk it through. Certainly don't want to continue if I end up poisoning myself - I have read some people's experiences on the website and yes they are scary. I guess there are some people who have a good experience with it (my doctor says she feels fantastic - lucky her).

Lee, Maybe finding another Dr will help..or, you could discuss what you've read with her and see what she says. Maybe she can give you alternatives. I have found, MOST Dr's(M.D.'s)do NOT have any clue, nor do they seem to care about menopause. Dr's today are taught by the drug companies..that's who funds ALL the studies that are being done..so of course if you have a symptom, they will see what "drug" they have been "taught" to use

for that symptom. Unfoutunately for us women, we are left out of studies..most(if not all)studies are done on men. MOST reference ranges on labs are based on what is "normal" for a MAN!

This "might" be changing, but ever so slowly. In fact, the last Gyne "I" saw, told me that she was "still learning" about Menopause! I thought to myself that she'd better hurry up or soon she will be learning about it firsthand. We as women should be outraged at this discrimination! Our bodies are VERY different from men's..and not just our sex organs either..our hearts, brains, everything is different. I wish you well on your journey to find relief in a healthy way.Terri To: rhythmicliving Sent: Monday, December 5, 2011 1:26 AM Subject: Re: New to WP

LOL - I'm not withering away. I was in Mexico City for two weeks, came home for a bit, turned around and flew to Paris. I've been walking everyday all over the place in the hail and rain - it's been cold! No withering away going on here! The point is that I'm doing lower doses because things have gotten better! I can't do too much E because things are better. My neck muscles get stiff if I do a total of 1 mg of E gel a day. I have to keep it under that. Recently with the low E I've been cycling without using P. If I forget a dose.... no problem. I used to have very clear horrible symptoms if I missed an E dose. Doesn't happen anymore. Nothing is extreme anymore. I think it helps that I keep my diet pretty low carb and mostly no grain, but you have to take anyone's testimonial with a pinch of salt. It's overly kind to call even any of our own reports pre-science. If we want to help women avoid the WP and things like the WP we need to teach critical thinking skills and the reasons for the methods used by science. Science isn't perfect, the results evolve, but just because it's not perfect doesn't mean the WP is the answer. Laurel Laurel, I'm confused..what happened to you that you could no longer handle "E"?
