Guest guest
I recall he liked saliva as a "filtrate of blood", but he's taking about it for ultra low dose HRT which he thinks is the only way to go. Once the dosing goes up I think we're simply screwed as far as accurate testing. In my case when I was immediately post -WP and the P was lodged in my "depots" in my inner thighs, Dr. Formby said that there really was no way to determine how much had been deposited there and into my organs. He said that if I was an animal model they'd have to kill me and do biopsies on the tissues to really get an idea. Then he apologized and once more said, "you have to understand these doses adjusted for animal models are so bad, scientists would never get approval to do this to animals, it would be considered animal abuse, not science." The best I could do was look for "the footprint" of P. It's all more complicated than any HRT salesperson makes it seem. LaurelHi Laurel, I found the information regarding the question on the reliability of saliva testing. It was in the Progesterone Dominancearticle by Dr. Formby on the website. Maybe Dr. Formby could let us know what is the most accurate and reliable way to measure our hormone levels? Thanks for all you do!Deb
Guest guest
Thanks for your reply Laurel. So the of deposition of P in the fat and organs really cannot be accurately measured by any method because it is bound to the tissue? How long did it take for you to detox the P from your system? Guest guest
It took me years to get my E down to what I'm doing now. I stopped the WP in April 2005 and when I was getting surges (if I massaged my legs, got a massage, or even ran, then I'd need up to 60 mg of the compounded E to pull myself out of a very scary P overdose. When those came on I could smell and taste the P. I wrote about them. You'd find them in the archives. Anyway, over the years I slowly got the E down to what I'm doing now, which is less than 1 mg a day of E gel. Some days it's about .333 of E gel. If I do too much I get a stiff neck, clench my jaw, and sometimes get a headache. It's amazing that finally FINALLY after so many years I can sense too much E. For ages I never had a clue what anyone was talking about. I could add E all day and never have anything to report , but good good happy happy. I think this need to keep it low happened in the last year. I'm delighted!! Please understand I don't know if that's how long it took to detox the P. But whatever it was, it took a long time for me to comfortably get the E so low. LaurelThanks for your reply Laurel.
