Guest guest
Do you think that sublingual P can add to tissue build-up or is it only transdermal P that does that? If my bloodwork for P came back at " 1 " , does that indicate that I don't have tissue build-up? Thanks, Sue
Guest guest
Didn't ask that right -- what I meant to ask is can sublingual P convert to cortisol? Or is it only transdermal P that does? Thanks again, Sue > > Do you think that sublingual P can add to tissue build-up or is it only transdermal P that does that? > > If my bloodwork for P came back at " 1 " , does that indicate that I don't have tissue build-up? > > Thanks, Sue >
Guest guest
Hi Sue, Your blood work does not mean you have not built up a lining. I would not use that as a gauge. I had endometrial cancer. Age 39. I have no idea what my hormones were doing pre cancer as no one did ANY hormone testing of any sort. Even while I was using transdermal P. My symptoms were, periods got longer and longer. (This was blown off) Then spotting in between (this was blown off) Then longer periods AND continual spotting (this was blown off). My periods pre cancer diagnosis were 7 days long, heavy, clots, for 2 of those days. EVERY month, year after year, every 28 days. (My point is I was regular). That all changed 2 months after being on the transdermal P. So not only was I dealing with MAJOR side effects of the P, I then got cancer. And since I was suffering the mental side effects of the P (major depression, anxiety) that I had never had before, all the drs, chalked it up to mental issues. I have no idea how I could possibly make up the bleeding in my head, but whatever. My point is here, PAY ATTENTION to your body and your symptoms. Irregular bleeding is a sign to get checked. I do not care anymore, what drs think. If I feel like I need something checked, I insist. If they hem and haw, I throw out the C word. And if it turns out I was wrong, oh wells. I took me 6 MONTHS for someone to listen to me. As for the tissue build up, we are all different. We respond differently, we absorb differently, our livers, our digestion, is different in everyone. I will say this again, pay attention to what feels right. Step back from the fear (self induced or dr induced) and feel what feels right. If it doesn’t, then reevaluate. If you can find someone, allopathic or holistic, that will be your partner and listen, this is even better! Sorry, I have gone on and on. I have a lot to say about taking charge of ourselves due to not being listened to. Liz Do you think that sublingual P can add to tissue build-up or is it only transdermal P that does that? Guest guest
Hi Liz: Sorry to hear you had to go through all that with cancer and all! My question was actually concerning the build-up of progesterone in the body due to using high doses of cream, not the build-up in the lining of the uterus. I'm assuming those are 2 different things? Sue > > > > > > > > > > > > > Do you think that sublingual P can add to tissue build-up or is it only > > transdermal P that does that? > > > > If my bloodwork for P came back at " 1 " , does that indicate that I don't have > > tissue build-up? > > > > Thanks, Sue > > >
Guest guest
Oh, sorry!!! I got on my soapbox!!! :-)) Yes, it is different! When I was on the WP, my P levels via blood never got over 4 (one time) most months, it was 1. This was using the mass quantities of P. I did a saliva test and a blood test on the same day. Saliva P off the charts, blood results 1. This was post hysterectomy (4 years). I know I had tissue build up. I’m convinced also that all the P from the WP turned to cortisol and hence the reason I got almost killing anxiety after being on the protocol for a year. And it took months and months and years to subside. Not trying to be dramatic but it was dramatic when it happened. Interestingly, I did a saliva test a few months ago. I had not used any P in months and months. I was testing my cortisol levels and the sex hormones were just part of the test. I was also using E. My E levels were in normal range, my P was way out of range, high. Go figure. I do not trust saliva testing for sex hormones. To much room for contamination error, I think. Blood testing is also subject to contamination, lab error, etc. When on the WP, I tried to play the numbers game with blood testing. All I did was drive myself crazy. Guest guest
I know about not relying on those darn tests, but i am going nuts here trying to figure out what is causing my anxiety. From what I've read, either high cortisol, low E, high P, or low P can be the cause. For a while I thought it was LOW E (bloodtest came back very low) so I raised my dose and felt good for a few days, then felt bad again. Raised it again, felt good for a few days, then felt bad again. So now I'm wondering if the anxiety is from high cortisol caused by using topical P. I've recently switched to sublingual tablets and that's why I wondered if sublingual would convert to cortisol like topical does. I probably should just stop the P but I'm worried that if LOW P is causing the anxiety, then I'll have more anxiety which I can't handle! See what anxiety can do to a person? I'm running around in circles! Insights, anyone? thanks, Sue > >> > > >>> > > > >>> > > > >>> > > > >>> > > > >>> > > > >>> > > Do you think that sublingual P can add to tissue build-up or is it only > >>> > > transdermal P that does that? > >>> > > > >>> > > If my bloodwork for P came back at " 1 " , does that indicate that I don't > >>> have > >>> > > tissue build-up? > >>> > > > >>> > > Thanks, Sue > >>> > > > >> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > http://liz-vernand.artistwebsites.com > http://fineartamerica.com/shop/liz-vernand.html >
Guest guest
Trust me, Sue, I know what that anxiety is about. If it were me knowing what I know now, I would stop the P. Some had to use high doses of E to combat symptoms of P overload. I know how hard it is to think clearly when the anxiety is high and driving. Trust me, I REALLY do. OMG, I tried everything to stop it. I do trust saliva testing for cortisol. When my anxiety was out the roof from being on the WP, my cortisol levels were also out the roof on all 4. My P was also, via saliva but not according to blood test. My reverse T3 was also super high. My cortisol tests now are of more normal ranges though still to high at 4pm and 10pm. I know my adrenals suffered greatly from the assault I inflicted on them with all that P. After the super high testing, my adrenals crashed a few months later. I was pretty much flat-lined the next 2 tests. I was on valium and anti depressants. I was a mess. I started the WP in 2004, I am still dealing with the side effects and damage. I now just make the best of each day and continue to try and improve what I can. We are so brain washed that P is the end all be all hormone. (IMHO) If it’s not calming you, then you might not be one that it works for. If E helped then that could be your key. I wished I had just rode it out, but at the time, the anxiety had me in that fear state as it was sooooooo high and driving. The pellets have been the ONLY method I have used to get my E up and keep it steady. No more, ups and downs. It will slowly decrease, that I know, but then another pellet insert will bring it back up steadily. It is a much smoother process so far for me. It will never be perfect as I am adding something, to my body but it is better than where I was before. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO grateful Laurel started this group. Very supportive, very wise, very caring. Guest guest
Sue, I have Lyme disease, anxiety and high cortisol. Â Daily Prometrium made my anxiety much worse. Â I now cycle it, ten days/month.Val----- Original Message -----I probably should just stop the P but I'm worried that if LOW P is causing the anxiety, then I'll have more anxiety which I can't handle! Guest guest
Hi Sue Tissue build-up is one thing and already having too much P in your body is another to a certain extent. Once your tissues are holding extra P this can last for months until it is used up or disperses. If you have too much P a blood test may not show it. that is why (although I am not a big fan of saliva testing for sex hormones)I say that a saliva test will more likely show if you have too much P in your system. No - it does not appear that subligual P will build up in your tissues..the experts all prefer sublingual or oral and are really getting away from prescribing transdermal P. BUT - if you are overloaded with Progesterone from using a high amount transdermally (and this amount varies from woman to woman, depending on how deficient you were in P to begin with), the build up will take some time to disperse. I agree with Liz that the first thing I would try for at least a while is stop P altogether and use only E for now..there should be enough P in you already to oppose the E that you use and therefore it should not cause an endometrial proliferation. Once you have gone at least a month of using E without P - maybe longer - you can then try some P again. If you are still overloaded, symptoms will quickly appear again. I am assuming that the extreme anxiety is due to an overload of P..I have never been anxietous in my life...but became so when I got too much P onboard. I went without P for 8 months feeling well...had an ultrasound and no overproliferation in my uterus...went another several months and still felt well but tried a little P and immediately the first day I got dry cracked skin on my legs..so I stopped the P..finally at three years off the P, I found myself able to use it aain in the form of 100mg Prometrium, once daily..the subligual drops (6.25 mg perdrop) still seem slightly too much all at once for me. Everyone is different and everyone becomes overloaded with P at a different rate, but I am convinced that with transdermal P it does eventually happen to all of us. Once overloaded, it does take months at least of using unopposed E to get rid of it. T can also reduce P. > > Do you think that sublingual P can add to tissue build-up or is it only transdermal P that does that? > > If my bloodwork for P came back at " 1 " , does that indicate that I don't have tissue build-up? > > Thanks, Sue >
Guest guest
Hi Sue Here is my reasoning for not believing a blood test when it comes to suspecting P overload...if the P was high in your blood, then the body would have no trouble with using, getting rid of, or dispersing it...but if it is stored deep in the tissues or fat, then it will stay there and not be avaialbe for use as long as someone keeps using more readily avaiable P. Many of us were overloaded with P and blood tests showed low or normal amounts of P..because that was what was available in the blood, which would then pass into cells and then to the organs of elimination and be gone. > > > > > Do you think that sublingual P can add to tissue build-up or is it only transdermal P that does that? > > > > If my bloodwork for P came back at " 1 " , does that indicate that I don't have tissue build-up? > > > > Thanks, Sue > > >
Guest guest
Sue, This may be off topic, but when my iron levels are low, I get anxiety. You do want a %saturation of 35% at least. Guest guest
Thanks, Deb. I did have a full iron panel done in January -- all levels good withh sat. at 36% so I can rule iron out as being the culprit. Guest guest
: Thanks for your insights -- very interesting! I am trying unopposed E for a while and see if I notice a difference.
