Guest guest
I took unopposed estrogel for about 3 years, figuring I would get the progesterone out of my system. Probaby the amount was the size of a gumball Then, after 3 years, I began taking 100mg Prometrium once a day. I began to get spotting and stopped the E like you did..went for a couple of months without any symptoms, sweats, flashes, etc...my TV ultrasound showed an overproliferation of endometrial tissue and biposy showed benign. I began taking DHEA 25 mg two months ago and it is working for me NOW...but last week, I had night sweats. Began Prometrium again and have decided to use a tiny touch of Estrogel once a day to see if that will work for me. My doctor allows me to play with the hormones as long as I get the regular TVU and biopsy if needed. Prometrium in such a low dose seems to work okay for me without any problems and I am confident all the Wiley P is out of me finally! > > Hi everyone, > I haven't been here in awhile, but I do occasionally lurk. > > I am post-menopausal for over 2 years. I have been using between 1/8 and 1/4 tsp of Estrogel every night to help with sleep for over 3 years. I have not used P because it is positively evil for me so I have risked using unopposed estrogen. > > Recently I had some bizarre symptoms and had ultrasound of the ovaries and uterus since a previous CT scan showed the uterus to be 'heterogenously enlarged/enhanced' I was expecting my uterine lining to be increased, but amazingly it showed only a 3 mm stripe. > > Fearing cancer prior to getting all these results, I immediately went off the estrogel. And it does not seem to be bothering me. > > My question--does anyone here take unopposed estrogen, or know anyone who does? If so, why? And how much/how long have you taken it? > > I haven't decided if I should re-start it. I made sure to eat the right foods and take the right supplements so as not to allow the estradiol to go down the wrong cancer-causing pathway, so maybe that helped? And/or the fact that it was such a small dose. > > I'm interested in your thoughts. > > >
Guest guest
Hi , Do you think the overproliferation occurred during those 3 years of unopposed estrogen? Did they recommend a D & C for that or did it resolve on its own? Or did you decide to start Prometrium again to shed the lining? If I recall from a few years back, you were one who seemed to like and do well on progesterone, perhaps that is why you can take it with no problems? How are your hot flashes now? I tried 5mg DHEA to start, but it seemed to make me very wired. > > > > Hi everyone, > > I haven't been here in awhile, but I do occasionally lurk. > > > > I am post-menopausal for over 2 years. Guest guest
Yes...I believe the stripe increased during the years I was on unopposed estrogen, but I think it happened mostly during the last 6-12 months of the time without Progesterone. The doctor did not recommend a D & C, but said to reduce my E and begin the P and wait and see. I never did shed the lining, other than a small amount of pink discharge, which went on for a few weeks - but I think it could have reduced itself (does it ever reabsorb?) . I will go in June for another TVU and see where i am at. Yes, it's probably me you remember - I used to do SO well on P, then I could no longer take it at all. ButIi have always had to use it during the day and use E at night..the two hormones seem to do the opposite of what most people get when taking them...I never got any type of relaxation or sedation on P and E always helped me relax and sleep without hot flashes or night sweats. During the time I took Wiley size doses of E, it did begin to give me energy. I can take the small amount of Prometrium now without a problem and evidence of that for me is I no longer retain fluids and my skin does not dry out from it as it did when I had WAY TOO much of it in me. Progesterone once again wakes me up and lifts my mood and my energy level. I tried taking it 12 hours apart but found it interupts my sleep, so I still can't get any sedation from it. I only began getting night sweats (no hot flashes) last week since being on DHEA, and yesterday and today used a tiny dab of Estrogel, but the DHEA is doing a lot for me. I was on it for many years (50mgs daily) and stopped it when I began taking estrogen with my progesterone, because it began giving me acne, facial hair and oily skin. As we age, I believe that DHEA CAN do it for some women. My own E is still fairly high, off hand, I can't remember or find my test results right now. > > Hi , > Do you think the overproliferation occurred during those 3 years of unopposed estrogen?
