Guest guest
Alaine, You might want to ask about Adderall. Dr. G has one of my sons on a low dose of Adderall and I think it¹s working quite well. He used to run into things all of the time... he was constantly stubbing his toe on the same chair in the house as he ran by (we¹re talking daily). That stopped almost immediately with the Adderall. His focus has improved (not perfect but better). It seems to help keep his mind from racing quite so much. I think Dr G wanted my son to be 6 or 7 before we tried it... can¹t remember... but in grade 2 your son is probably old enough. Caroline G. Guest guest
My son is in second grade, and he’s on many of the meds you mentioned. He has been seen by Dr. G for 4 years now. Over the summer, he did a 60 hour intensive listening retraining combined with OT. WOW!!!!! It costs a $4k fortune, but it has been SOOOO worth it. All of his teachers/therapists/aides and our friends are wow’d, as well. He is doing REALLY well in school this year academically. (Socially, he sticks out like a sore thumb). I was really nervous going into LIFT because of the expense, but I knew that his biggest challenge, other than ability to attend, was processing, including auditory processing. He LOVED doing it. The website is http://www.listeningfitness.com/ We are in North San Diego area. Another big help this summer was getting his Paxil to the correct dose. Guest guest
Kristy, One of my staff at work has a son w/ auditory processing issues. He's 11, and she's having him do the " Dynamic Listening System. " Also around $4-5K, but she's seeing great results re: his confidence and the effort he wants to put into things, enthusiasm, etc. Assuming this is similar to LIFT? It's probably our next thing for over next summer..... Alaine
