Guest guest
The issues of SSRIs--type and dose--is a tricky one. I have three boys on the protocol and they all seem to respond differently to the SSRIs. What works for one is a disaster for the other. Right now, I have two on Celexa and one on Zoloft. Zoloft was a nightmare for my mild/moderate " A " word son, but fine for my ADHD kiddo. My son with ADHD has pretty severe emotional outbursts and none of the SSRIs seemed to help with this. We are seeing results with Tenex--believe it or not an 1/8th of a 1 mg tablet. For my son with autism, we need a combination of SSRIs at low doses. Right now, it's Efffexor, Wellbutrin, and Celexa. His attention and focus are good and his speech is coming along. I hope this helps. Hang in there. Guest guest
I have heard that Tylenol interferes with the methylenation (sp?) process; ibuprofen is supposed to be better. Guest guest
Hi, Carole. No on auditory problems--Noah, my mild/mod kiddo does have sensory issues. Headaches are a very common occurrence with him as well. We use Advil. If he has a difficult day at school or a difficult morning before school, I give him 200mg of Advil. It can help reduce inflammation. Before antiviral therapy and SSRIs, Noah had severe migraine headaches that could only be relieved with nasal Imitrex. The headaches are most likely a symptom of inflammation. Sinuses can be a huge culprit in this even if they have no nasal congestion. With me, everything dries up and my sinuses swell, causing a lot of pain. Are you using any type of nasal spray? This really helps my kids. You also may want to look at diet, if you haven't already done so. I've had to eliminate many things from all three of my kids' diets. Although difficult, it has resulted in improved behavior and a reduction of symptoms. If your grandson craves a certain food, look closely at it. The very things my kids crave are the foods they are most allergic to. Lastly, you may want to talk to Dr. G about Tenex. It's helped both Noah and Elijah (ADHD and prone to intense emotional outbursts). In Elijah's case, Dr. G started him out with 1/8th of a 1 mg tablet. I had my doubts that little bit would help, but we had this week was the calmest in a long, long time. I hope this helps. I know it can seem like two steps forward and three steps back, but it is a process that takes some time. Your grandson didn't get this way overnight. With this protocol, there are constant adjustments, revisions and changes. Guest guest
- We're on day 3 and got the same response! My son got out of his chair and danced for the first time to Doo Wop music?!?!  I've gotten 2 phone calls in the past 3 days from his pre-school teacher telling me that he has had the most awesome days of the school year. She was so happy about it that she had to call me! Very happy to hear that your son is responding so well too!  Velma ________________________________ From: Fund <susan_fund@...> Sent: Fri, September 17, 2010 2:10:22 PM Subject: Celexa  My son is on his 2nd day of celexa. Guest guest
My son used to take Lexapro. I noticed better mood the same afternoon. So it is possible the effect shows up that quickly.
