Laurie, I do very well on .75 - 1.0 mg Estrogel, applied to fat.  I quit it monthly for about seven days during the shed.  I also take oral Prometrium for ten days a month.  I do about six days of 200 mg, three days of 300 mg, and another day of 200mg.   When I was taking 100 mg daily, my uterine thickness built up and my blood glucose was getting up there.  Now off the daily stuff, BG is down again.  I haven't had an ultrasound to see about the stripe.Val ----- Original Message -----From: rhythmicliving

Hi everyone,

I went to see an NP yesterday who was a referral from a compounding pharmacy. My script for estrogen was going to need a refill and I can't continue to see Uzzi so had to move along with someone else. This NP feels that the creams build up too much in the tissues and for that reason doesn't like to use them much. She also feels that saliva testing is the the way to go...not blood. I just don't know what to think about that as when she explained it made sense but most of my reading says to test blood after on HRT.

She gave me a script for Prometrium and said that the first pass in the liver is what will help me to tolerate it. I took it last night for the first time and I feel okay this morning. I can't believe it really because I always feel terrible after taking progesterone. Fingers crossed.

She also thinks that I am getting too much estrogen even though I don't have those high estrogen symptoms but she wants to wait for the saliva test results before she directs me on that. So confusing.

She mentioned a doctor named Eldred and he wrote "Are your hormones making you sick?" Has anyone read this book? I just wonder if it's a good one to purchase.

Thank you for any thoughts you might have! :)

Hi Val,

How in the world did you come to that dosing schedule? Trial and error? I can't

remember what the NP told me about whether to take the Prometrium daily or

cyclically. I'm going to call Monday to find out but I think regardless I will

do it cyclically. She said she wants me to take 200mg (100 in the morning and

100 in the evening) but she wanted to see how I would do on 100mg first. I slept

all night last night which rarely happens for me so day 2 on Prometrium and I

still feel okay...lol. I noticed I was sleepier than usual yesterday but I'll

take that over cranky, irritable, hot and depressed any day. :)

I swear my memory is not where it should be because I can't remember what she

wanted to put me on for estrogen. I think she mentioned Estrace but not sure. I

need to do a search on that to see what I can find out about it.

Estrogel is OTC right? How did you decide up on Estrogel? Was it an insurance

thing, self treating or just simply that it works the best for you?

I haven't had a period in at least a year so I hope that I can get things moving

to shed the lining. Never thought I would hope for that. lol...

Thank you!

Hi Laurie

I have used probably every type of E and prefer Oestrogel..a gel disperses

quickly.

Hi ,

What did you notice in the Oestrogel that you didn't with the other types? So

glad you finally found one that works for you :) Where do you get it?

Thanks!

I find that Oestrogel absorbs quickly and is active within minutes. Also, the

preferred T for men is in a gel...and doctors say it is the best delivery method

for men... in other words, I ahve read a LOT of positive thigns about hormones

in gel form and no negatives that I can ever remember.

I will write you privately with my source

Some of it was trial and error.  I learned a lot from Dr. Larrian Gillespie and Dr. Vliet.  Dr. Gillespie recommends a shed every three months, prompted by five days of 50 mg vaginal suppository  My problem is that unless I do a monthly shed, I stop shedding at all and develop a thick uterine lining.  I've already had a D & C.  My gyn wanted me to do 100 mg Prometrium every day and stop all periods.  She gave me some research that indicates no periods are far less likely to result in uterine cancer than are monthly or quarterly.  The problem I had with 100 mg daily was, at the end of a year, I had again developed uterine hyperplasia.  Also, my fasting blood glucose was getting into the 120's.  I then went back to 10 days Prometrium and am doing well.  I had 2 or 3 hard sheds and believe I got rid of that excess lining.  I won't know until September when I'll have another ultrasound. I use 200 mg Prometrium x 6 days, 300 mg x 3 days, and 200 mg for a day. That produces a reasonable shed.  The gyn wants me to get a progestin IUD but I'm afraid of the continual progesterone activity. It is $1,000 and my insurance won't cover it.  I think that IUD has about a 30% dropout rate.I use Estgrogel (Oestrogel) as that is what Dr. Gillespie (Diva) recommends and it is very inexpensive if ordered from Masters Marketing in the UK.  It is prescription.  You can get Estrogel in the U.S. by prescription but it is expensive.Val----- Original Message -----From: rhythmicliving
