Guest guest
Hi Sadie The term " sublingual " means under the tongue..some get losenges that go under the tongue and dissolve easily and others get drops - the ones I have are olive oil with USP progesterone (natural) I personally have found that sublingual drops are a bit hit and miss..by that I mean an extra drop or two can sneak out while putting them under your tongue. the drops and anything put right under the tongue or throat or into the vagina or any mucous membrane goes directly at the full dose into the blood stream without first passing the liver My subligual drops are 6.25 mgs per drop. I have found them to be a little too much all at once into my bloodstream. I use Prometrium 100 mg once daily...oral Prometrium @100mgs goes thru the first pass of the liver and also into the stomach and thru the digestive system before it enters the blood stream. After it goes into the blood stream and into the cells (which is by this time, reduced to 10% or the oral dose, or for me, that's 10mgs P) it then goes back thru the liver and passes out of the body thru the organs of elimination I prefer the Prometrium...it should be out of your body by the end of about 12 hours. BUT - there were months and years that I could not even tolerate the 100mg Pormetrium because my body was still holding way too much Progesterone from my years of using too much transderal P. To me, as long as I was taking unoppsed E and could not use P even in the smallest dose, I felt I was overloaded...saliva testing confirmd this - I was off the charts..my ultrasounds confirmed that I was not creating a thick lining..my endometrial biopsies were normal...so it may be a variety of things you need to do to check if you even NEED P while you are unable to tolerate it. I don't get how doctors insist that a woman who is not tolerating P makes her take it, except that they are going by fear of cancer and without enough info on that specific persons situation Eacch one of us needs to use common sense and figure out exactly what is going on in our specific case...listen to your body and its reactions to things you take. Then, try and find a doctor who will isten and work with you to get the facts. someone other than me posted about OTC P drops... > > > I am unfamiliar with sublingual progesterone and am hopeful someone can > answer my questions as I would like to consider this application as an > alternative to prometrium. > > - how is the sublingual progesterone applied . . . under the tongue? > > - it was mentioned in a previous entry that a subscription is not > required.
