Guest guest
Hello to all, I plan to ask my doctor for a prescription for vaginal progesterone. Are there different types/brands(?) of bio-identical vaginal prog. that any of you recommend? I know someone mentioned Cyclogest. Are there others I should consider? (My doctor is totally unfamiliar with anything bio-identical. The only hormones she wants to prescribe are synthetic.) I would also appreciate any further suggestions re. frequency of use and dosages. As well, has anyone found application of the vaginal progesterone to be particularly 'messy'? Many thanks, Sadie > > > > > > Dr. G recommends 1/4 of a vaginal Cyclogest (25 mg) for 5 -10 days every > > > three months. Guest guest
There are no commercial suppositories available in the U.S. You can get them from a compounding pharmacist. I buy Cyclogest from Masters Marketing in the UK. Crinone, a gel, is available in the U.S. I'd try about 25 mg and see if it works. If no shed, then 50 - 75. You're going to have to get to know how your body responds. What estrogen are you using? Are you post-meno? Vaginal P was never messy for me but I've heard some say that unless Prometrium is cut open, it can sometimes come out whole the next day. Guest guest
Hi Val, Thanks so much for your helpful reply. I am post-menopausal and use the " estradot " patch twice per week. Val, do you need a prescription to purchase Cyclogest from Masters Marketing . . .. & do they ship it over from England? (I live in Canada.) Is the Crinone gel applied to the skin . . . similar to estrogel . . . or inseted vaginally? Also, it sounds from your message that it's possible to insert prometrium vaginally . .. . wow! I didn't know this was an option :-) . . . though I would think it somewhat difficult to cut those round pills in half . . . or even quarters if I wanted to keep the dosage low.
