Guest guest
That doesn't coincide with what I have witnessed over the past few years. Thyroid/adrenal issues can absolutely affect sex hormones. Simply " properly " addressing the thyroid/adrenal issues usually results in sex hormones normalizing on their own, without supplementing them. But if they don't normalize, then (after thyroid/adrenal) that is when they should be addressed. From what I've seen, and experienced, doing it backwards (sex hormones first, thyroid/adrenal after) isn't usually as successful and is much more of a pain in the arse to do. In my opinion, when sex hormones go awry, there is almost always an underlying cause, and it's that underlying cause that really should be tackled first. I don't even have ovaries, and yet I still needed to address thyroid/adrenal before moving forward with BHRT. That's my 3 cents. Guest guest
Yes, of course, getting off the WP is a priority. I was just explaining to Nanci the general order of treatment where thyroid/adrenal and sex hormones are concerned. With the overdose amounts of progesterone on the WP, adrenals might take a big hit, and again when all that progesterone starts to come out of the tissues in the ensuing months. Adrenal function, specifically cortisol, can effect absorption of thyroid hormones - cortisol is like the key that opens the door which allows thyroid into receptors. Low cortisol can mean less thyroid is getting to where it's needed in adequate amounts. This is why I've been noisy about monitoring both " while " y'all are getting off the WP. Check out a hormone flow chart and see what progesterone can turn into... The most benign way to watch thyroid/adrenals is by charting temperatures. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/temperature It never hurts to keep an eye on things. Guest guest
Google search for hormone pathways chart. I found one here: http://www.livelonger123.com/Hormones/doctorsonlyhormone.htm scroll down a wee bit for the hormone chart (seems there's other interesting things there as well).
