'Generic' means only that their patent expired, not that the quality of the product diminished. The pharmaceuticals come with new formulas of the old and tested formulations only to cajole customers into paying more money.Brand Prometrium and generic Prometrium have exactly same active ingredients and the same effect on your health. Hello ladies:

Does anyone know if generic Prometrium is good? My insurance copay is $5 for generic vs. $35 for the brand name. I know that generics of some medications aren't as reliable so wanted to see if anyone here had any experience with generic Prometrium.

There are some differences in generic versus branded drugs. The

active drug ingredient should be the same. The differences can be in

delivery, fillers, additives, coloring, etc. Sometimes these

differences are significant and sometimes they are not; it really

depends on the drug. Your doctor should be able to advise you if a

generic and a brand are truly equivalent. The pharmacist will always

encourage a generic as they are given incentives for substituting

generics for brands. Chris
