Guest guest
Hi all, As a newbie I enjoy following the posts. I'm launching my IMP May 2013. Making the transition from hospital-owned to IMP-freedom within the same community! I would like to get recs about malpractice insurance carrier in New England. I looked into The Doctor Company as some other local IMPs have but need to be a member of ACP. I'm not as I'm an FP. Coming to IMP camp from NH! Can't wait to see San Diego. Guest guest
Sharon,Who is your malpractice carrier? I have been using The Doctors Company and their criteria for part-time/full-time is how many hours per week that your office is open, not necessarily patient contact hours. So I have been paying full-time rates as long as I have had my practice. SetoSouth Pasadena, CA Mine is less than 20-21 patient contact hours.Sharon McCoy MD Renaissance Family Medicine10 McClintock Court; Irvine, CA 92617PH: (949)387-5504 Fax: (949)281-2197 Toll free phone/fax: www.SharonMD.com My carrier is NJ Pure, 20 hours or less is PT. i love them they've been a pleasure to deal with. Guest guest
,CAP-MPT I misstated. It is all " aspects of practice of medicine " : Private practice must be limited to no more than 20 hours per week, averaged on a calendar quarter basis. All aspects of the practice of medicine are to be included in the total number of hours worked. This includes patient care, making rounds, phone calls, reviewing and addressing of lab results, tests and consultant reports, charting, billing and other administrative work, locum tenens, after hours call when engaged in patient care and direct or indirect supervision of physician extenders such as physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Since I don't have regular " office hours " that I'm open, this is easier for me.Sharon McCoy MDRenaissance Family Medicine 10 McClintock Court; Irvine, CA 92617PH: (949)387-5504 Fax: (949)281-2197 Toll free phone/fax: www.SharonMD.com Sharon,Who is your malpractice carrier? Guest guest
Colorado is 25 of direct patient care, so charting, admin does not count. Easy to do only part time and pay those rates. We work 830-12 and 2-5 four days a week ________________________________________ From: [ ] On Behalf Of Seto [glseto@...] Sent: Saturday, August 18, 2012 1:01 PM To: Subject: Re: newbie ? about malpractice Sharon, Who is your malpractice carrier?
