Guest guest
Cammy As far as the throwing up, I can't suggest anything that you haven't tried already. Have the GI docs said anything? Oral feeds is where I've had lots of experience. I forced CAitlyn to eat gagging choking and all, it wasn't pretty and if I was smarter, I wouldn't have kept at it. Do you have a NUK brush? Made by Gerber, the round nubbed rubber tipped " brush " that comes with Gerber's " baby's first toothbrush set. Stick the NUK brush in his mouth and massage his gums, tongue, inner cheeks, etc. before each meal. Then when he's less adversive to this, stick the brush in different foods and stick that in his mouth. Also get a vibrating toothbrush (Elmo, Barney, etc at Toys R Us $11) and massage all around in his mouth after using the NUK. My suggestion then is to get 2 or 3 spoonfuls in his mouth even if he chokes or gags or not. If he does, end the meal after 3 spoonfuls. If not, see if you can get 3 more. Try to build from there. I used to get the whole feeding in, but I feel I was wrong and listened to much to what other people were telling me. To this day Caitlyn still chokes sometimes so I don't think rushing her into solids did any of us any favors. Feeding is one of the most frustrating battles with our CHARGErs. Take one day at a time and be patient. Jeanne __________________________________________________
