Guest guest
Gloria, this recipe is indeed from Bert and Therese. I actually made homemade CRACKERS and cornbread tonight from their recipes. I miss crackers very much and they were excellent. I will use the rest of them this week with soup and salads.:>) These are absolutely the very best people. Now about the cranberries, do not use the Crasins. They are sweetened with sugar. Go to the health food store which sells food stuffs and purchase dried cranberries which are sweetened with apple juice. They are both organic so no chemicals. Liquid flax seed is the oil. And I actually searched and found the milk thistle seed also at the health food store in the large spice containers. Think of the benefits to the liver with that in the cereal. I forgot to put on the bottom of this that when mixed, you place it on foil on a large baking dish, ie, cookie plate and bake 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. Set your timer and turn it every ten minutes. Mine is actually cooling right now but will eat it in the a.m. with cold rice milk. This is a health granola. Will give you guys the rest of the recipes if you are really interested. Bert sent gluten free rolls, pancakes, blueberry muffins, apple cake etc. Many different choices for us which makes life really nice. If you had purchased granola store bought, it would be mixed probably with conola oil which is exceedingly bad for us, instead of the flax oil which is good for us. Sleep well. Guest guest
Do you know how much added sugar it has? > Never tried it, never seen it in the store, but there's an advertisement in Shape magazine for something called Kashi, seven whole grains and sesame cereal stuff. Kashi GoLean has 8g protein (6.5g soy), 10g fiber, 1g fat and 120 calories, according to the ad. Kashi Good Friends has 8g fiber, 1g fat, 90 calories. www.kashi.com is their website if you wanna check it out. Guest guest
, I think Cheerios still have sugar in them so it may not be a good choice. For cereal, I found puffed rice or puffed millet to be okay. I use almond milk (or unsweetened vanilla soy milk), a little bit of protein powder, and then sprinkle with cinnamon. Do you like tofu, the soy product? You can scramble it like eggs and add the spices of your choice. Put it on a bed of brown rice or another alternative, quinoa (pronounced keenwah)which you can cook like rice. Quinoa has a nuttier flavor than most grains. I found that I like it. Millet tastes closer to corn, the other very safe alternative. All of these grain alternatives do not have gluten in them, which is very helpful since a great many of us candida sufferers can not tolerate gluten products (wheat, rye, barley). There is also food allergy cook books that may have some good recipes for non-yeast breads, muffins and pancakes/waffles. I know how tough finding breakfast is. I hope my suggestions help you a bit. Shoshana > I know cereal is a no-no, but I thought I read somewhere that Cheerios were ok if you MUST have cereal. Does anyone know if that's true? I can't seem to find it in my book now and I'm getting desperate. > > This is my first breakfast and this morning I tried oatmeal, some sort of wafer, a rice cake, sardines... and they're all disgusting. LOL! Actually, the sardines were ok. But NOT for breakfast. Ick. And I didn't know there were bones in there. > > I'm so hungry! Guest guest
I just discovered Total High Protein cereal. Very tasty, high in protein. I also eat it dry as a snack. Sheryl Cereal I know I need to get some more fiber in my diet. Any suggestions on a good cold cereal. Also how do you handle the milk if you are not suposed to have liquid with your meals? Thanks in advance! Katy
Guest guest
Kashi Go Lean cereal is high in protein (13 gms per 3/4 cup) and fiber 10 gms per 3/4 cup. Milk is not a problem since we has fluid in soup. It just isn't a true solid protein meal. That isn't going to kill us or harm our weight loss progress. Guest guest
Katy I use Hi-Lo cerael by Nutritious Living and put it in low carb yogurt. The cerael has 6 grams of fiber per serving ( 1/2 cup). 12 grams of protein,1 gram of sugar and 5 grams of carbs. It taste really good with raspberry or blueberry yogurt, peach is good also. I don't care much for strawberries. I like whole strawberries but not jam. I guess it comes from eating them fresh from the field when I was a kid. Washington strawberries are still the best but I survive with the California ones now. Granola is also good in yogurt. Guest guest
The Kashi Good Friends and Go Lean cereals are good, so is All-Bran - and read labels to find others. Moistening the cereal with a little milk is different than drinking a whole glass. High-fiber crackers are also good for luch or a snack. Daily cereals and fiber should meet the 25-gram-a-day fiber goal, or - if not - a good supplement like benefiber or the chewable metamucil tabs are good. Guest guest
I like Raisin Bran and Grape Nuts. I put 1/2 cup of skim milk with it, doesn't cause any problems with liquids washing through the pouch. Matter of fact I just had some Raisin Bran and with this new fill, I got an 8 oz glass of milk to help soften the cereal in addition to the milk in the cereal. I was only able to eat half of the bowl and am very satisfied. I don't make a habit of drinking more than a sip or 2 of liquids with my meal because it can wash the food down the pouch but on the other hand, I'm not willing to choke on the food either;-) Kem in Eugene 286/266/150 Dr. Neal 8.6.04 <º)))>< << Date: Sun, 26 Sep 2004 12:20:58 -0000 From: " katydidit1313 " <kay.bolen@...> Subject: Cereal I know I need to get some more fiber in my diet. Guest guest
i just wanted to share a " discovery " with the board. i just discoved Total w/Protein-practically the perfect food if you ask me. it's slightly sweeter than original Total (which i'm not *crazy* about), but i think they've improved it over the last few months that it's been out on the shelves. it's 46/46/9 in it's ratios (the 9 being fat) and it completely fixes my craving for cereal for breakfast or for my latenight snack. AND it has 100% of all your vitamins. it's amazing! just wanted to share. *~sarah

Guest guest
Our personal preferences are cereals with less than 10g of sugar per serving and at least 5g of fiber. Kellog's raisin bran fits. It's a little high in the sugar area because of the raisins but we let it slide because.. well, it's fruit. And I love Optimum Power Breakfast with flax and blueberry. Guest guest
Actually, I don't do much cold cereal any more. I prefer to make a big batch of oatmeal, then refrigerate the leftovers and do a quick reheat of a serving at a time. I'll add cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice, and top it with some blended cottage cheese. (I pre-blend a container just for the smoothe option) Top with a couple strawberries or blueberries (defrosted from the freezer) That meal seems to stick with me for the full 3 hours. M. Guest guest
Good tip, thank you so much. I was imagining this like really huge King Kong size bowl of cereal and did not know how in the world I would eat it all! Thanks I'm definitely going to try this to see how it works for me. I guess I'm gonna have to do extra belly rubs, so I hopefully won't get backed up, if you know what I mean - LOL Steph

Guest guest
I was told corn flakes or Rice Krispies only. Guest guest
We tried the Rice Chex trick - he said no because I think it had brown sugar He used to recommend Cheerios - but now he says now on that - its to do with how they are milled for some reason. My son was taken of white rice flour bread which we made for years - it turns out that you can develop an allergy to that too - even though rice krispies is made of white rice - its toasted and some how changes the chemical composition - all I know is that my son's allergies cleared up a lot taking out white rice flour. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Bill klimas Sent: Wednesday, November 04, 2009 10:47 AM Subject: Re: Cereal I was told corn flakes or Rice Krispies only. Guest guest
I just had my phone consult with Dr. G and he wants my son to have Rice Crispies for breakfast. We, too, don't do corn. My biggest problem with Kellogg's Rice Crispies is they include high fructose corn syrup, which we won't do. So frustrating!
