Guest guest
what means codifed? You have always had to write the ICD 9 no the CPT code and how many time s/day they test etc For Medicare. so in my emr- is this replicable in yours? I write it on t he order form that has a signature on it- the order form for Xrays etc I put a / in the place where Xr or BMP or somethign the emr knows woul d be and in the space below a space used for comments, I write " all dm supplies lancets etc 250.1 tests qd and prn 90 days x 1 yr an d fax that in I have only been asked for the notes once or twice and that was the insurer I think that wanted it..or the pharmacy I remember Walmart....Can;t recall becasue patietn had died already so ah I did not send:) The pharmacy board has ruled that starting two weeks ago they will not accept e-scripts for diabetic supplies unless it's codified. Of course my Amazing Charts isn't codified for those supplies. Now I'm being told I can handwrite them and fax them the old way and they will be accepted! At least two pharmacies have started following the rule already. What are others doing? I think this will be one area where I write a years worth of refills. -- MD ph fax
Guest guest
I often have to handwrite rxs for diabetic supplies. I can add the ICD-9 code in the “note” section of a faxed script (I don’t e-prescribe but I need to get moving on that). But often they say they need an “original” signature so I have to drop it to paper and fax it. Which isn’t exactly an original signature but I guess it’s not a Print image signature which is the difference. I think with Medicare, I actually have to mail the script. I would give a 10 year supply if they would let me. I guess diabetic supplies are a huge area of fraud and many nondiabetics want to get meters and prick their fingers several times a day (sarcasm heavy here).
