Hey Argie,

I'm pretty sure it's Robyn who's child has (had?) cyclical vomiting syndrome.

I believe he only had one mild cycle after starting with Dr Goldberg - I believe

it was antivirals he started first, and after that cycle, it seems like she said

he didn't have any more after that (and she was told he would have it for life).

I think it was the antivirals that made the most difference (and probably diet),

and that it was dramatic and quick.  I'm sure she wouldn't mind talking to you

.... you can probably search the files for her posts - just search for cvs or

cyclical vomiting syndrome in the posts at the group if she doesn't

pop in and answer you immediately.

Robyn's son always sticks in my mind, because I remember being so horrified by

this illness.  What misery!! All the hours spent in the e.r. ...

Do you have a friend with this disorder too?

Hello everyone,

A couple of months ago there was a discussion about " Cyclical

Vomiting " , I can't remember who the parent was. My question is, what

helped?

Any help that I can forward to him would be greatly appreciated.

Good memory, . Noah had CVS for two years. Three to four months into

antiviral treatment, it stopped. Argie, I would be happy to answer any questions

I can regarding it. It's a very strange illness and it can be mild or totally

debilitating. It depends on how often the person cycles. For Noah, it was once

every 3 to 4 weeks and was preceded and followed by migraine headaches. Nasal

Imitrex were a godsend for the headaches, but nothing stopped the vomiting.

Zofran was prescribed but didn't work.

Robyn

HI ,

Thank you for the info. I saw someone today whose daughter is going

through this. He is an attorney, and has two doctors in his family,

they've seen a couple of GI doctors and nothing's helped, it got

better for a while, but it came back. She also has stomach pains too.

I feel for the kids, because they are the one's that suffer.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Robyn,

How is Noah doing now? Any info you can give me would be greatly

appreciated. Do you mind if I email your info to our friend? Maybe

he can email you directly if it's okay with you.

Thank you,

Argie

Hi, Argie.

No problem in passing along my email to your friend. It's so hard to get info on

CVS. Not a lot is known about it. Noah is doing great now.

He hasn't had an attack in about 20 months. He still gets migraines but only

once or twice every six weeks or so.

Take care,

Robyn
